I showed my boys who are 8 and 11 that pic, they were impressed. :thumb

The bike is a used 20'' Monty 221 PR, not sure what year but it's in perfect shape. I didn't really need another bike right now but I couldn't pass up that deal, I'm hoping my boys will take an interest. Cain probably will since he loves riding his GasGas, but Patrick will probably spend two minutes on it and then go back inside to play video games.

They do come up on Craigslist once in a while but we found this one in the for sale section of OTN.

This is the my limited production Monty "urrrggghhhhh" Edition.

I believe I have the only "urrrggghhhhh" in NC. Other special editions include "Dammitdammitdammit" and the more common variant, "Ow." though the "Yoweee!!!" is also a familiar model.

I have a used trials bike in my back yard. My son picked it up from someone here in LA a few years ago. It needs some work. I am not sure what it might need. It's free to someone who wants to pick it up. Or I might consider dropping it off if I pass by your house sometime.

Beware, you might soon be totally hooked.

I used to ride lots of mototrial, but these last several years, when I go for a trials ride, 95% of the time it's biketrial.

One of the nice things is that it keeps me pretty well in tune for riding mototrial, too.

good luck and have fun with it!

two thing that have helped me

try to ride with a body position where you have little or no weight on the bars to test this let go and try not to fall on your face (it is harder than it sounds)

and when hopping the front try not to push down with your feet while pulling up on the bars, try to unweight the peddels while you are moving the front around

Went down to the park and rode circles around the basketball courts for about an hour and a half working on basic stuff. I ran out of water half way through but I was having too much fun to quit.

Now my hands REALLY hurt and I have a blister. :lol3

I USED to have a trials bike, kind of.

It was a Raleigh Edge Mountain Trials designed by John Olsen. 26 front, 24 rear wheels. It was a sweet handling and really fun bike. I bought it new around 1989 (when I used to mountain bike A LOT) and rode it everywhere I could. I even did a couple of trials events, did OK. My bunny hop was my downfall, I can only get about .003" off the ground. I used to be able to ride it places I can only dream of riding now.

This was the only bike where I ever collected on the frame warranty. One of the rear dropouts broke on it, and the bike shop replaced it no questions asked. The original one had cantilevers front & rear, the replacement had the rollercam under the chainstay which was a really bad idea.

I'm sad to say I sold it on Craigslist a few years ago, and got less than $100 for it.
