Thanks, its a great scooter. I really like it...no regrets. You should see my wife's, it gets more compliments than mine. The only credit I can take for the paint is the color choice...Vespa Sherman Oaks expertly handle the paint and the R&R. The #1 selling Vespa dealership in the US. www.vespaso.com
I had an altercation with a jeep which destroyed my bondo'ed stock fender. His insurance paid out and I promptly chopped off the stock fender and got myself a hugger. Totally fits the desert racer/hot rod style.
XVS504,I`m REALLY liking the look of your scoot ! It probably looked great as it was,but removing the stock front mudguard to reveal the fork leg and adding the hugger looks superb. However,I think you should re-route that brake hose along the fork leg to avoid any snagging hazards. (I didn`t quote your post as it`s annoying when people do this and all the photos are constantly re-posted making very long replies)
No way! That has got to be the most pimped Ruckus in the world! Someone makes carbon parts for them!?
Yes...I know that. But sadly too many people quote a whole lengthy pic heavy post and then just add a comment like 'Sweet' or 'Nice scooter' etc and we get page after page of the same pics just for a few short comments.
My touring beater. Bought it with 63miles on it this year! Its just sat and was sold with no keys. I also have a two more vespa's and an old Honda mess.
The biggest drag meet of the year for over this part of the world is on tomorrow. I've raced at Nationals meetings every year for the last 22 years........except for this one, the damn Vmax seems impervious to my feeble attempts to fix it. However, all is not lost! SOMEONE has to tow around all the dragbikes after a run, so I'm crewing for a mate on his 8sec no-bar 1984 GSX, as part of a cunning plan to be part of the action. I intend to wear my cool "Vespa 90" T-shirt, and tow back 3 or 4 bikes at a time with my trusty scoot past the 20000 spectators. I'm gonna be famous! Here we are, fuelled up and ready to ride the 350km t the track at dawn tomorrow........ ........and notice the most important things necessary for the ride. A helmet with auto sunglass function, a comfy jacket for the trip, and of course, the coffee! HAHA! It's all good!
Yeah, 250. I prefer the 400s, an extra inch in the legroom and a bit more grunt, but really this 250 does it all for what I want. 60-70000km from now when it's gasping, which is really only 5 years away, I'll probably get a 300/350. They're pretty capable these things.
+1 I had a ride on a 200 probably 10 years ago. The acceleration back then blew me away.. (the 200 is the same power as 250.. almost).. but I've ridden the BV200 (Beverly) few days before and I recall that the X8 had virtually no feedback from the front end. To this day I think it was the most "detached" I felt on any scooter, and most are bad that way. I even skidded the rear for 30-40ft and had NO idea the wheel was locked up under deceleration. On the plus side, it's probably the most comfortable, small wheeled scooter I tried. I wish my DT300 was this comfortable. The X8 400 has 14" wheels on both ends which should help a lot. It was on my shortlist when I bought the Downtown. I'm a huge fan of the Piaggio 400cc MASTER engine.
I'm a big fan too, love the 400s. I prefer the 12" rear, the rim takes a CT easily (30K km tyre life), and is a bit deeper under seat. Having both would be perfect.
True, true.. The storage (and especially double access) is amazing on the X8. Also.. I don't seem to like the X-EVO as much.. don't know where they were going with that scoot. That's the best 400 piaggio based scoot that I ever tried.
You know I'm not particularly fond of the BV/Beverly, but this is the BV done right. However, leftover stock here was sold quickly for the price less then the BV125 (and this was a 400 and 500) because the 1) imported "went under" and there was a lot of talk about electrical issues. I got that thing up to 100mph indicated and it felt better planted at the tight stuff then my kawasaki 650r. The 400's regular price was lower then what they're asking for a BV350 now, however, the 500 with ABS was A LOT (like 20-25%) more. Too bad.
