Well, I think the updates just might make me trade in my '11 1200GSA. The new S10 has everything I had hoped for that I enjoy on my GSA. CC is something I always wanted on my next bike so that's also a plus. I just don't know about the weight since it'll be 30lbs or so heavier than my GSA which is a top heavy pig when filled up with 8.9gals. I just don't understand why Yamaha dealers don't have demo bikes like BMW does.

Well lets try some educating on the weights..:D

    BMW GS 1200 Adventure.
Claimed weight: 90% fueled, road ready: 259kg's
    Actual weight: Fully fueled: 273kg's
It had an Akropovic pipe on, giving it a benefit in weight with the std Cat removed. It also had all the crash protection and pannier racks on.

    Yamaha Super Tenere
    Claimed weight (wet): 261kg's
    Actual weight (Wet): 268kg's
23 litre tank, had an alluminium bash plate, head light protector and pannier racks fitted, but with standard zorst, including Cat.

So the new one adds about 3Kg with all the doo dads.
So it should be around 271Kg with the above accessories.

BUT the YAMAHA is a bottom heavy beast, so it's less of an issue again.

If you drain 10Litres from the GSA you loose about 5Kg. So they are about even.

Well I think they are improving the street side of the S10 but on the dirt side, the current model looks just fine. I can trade my 2011 R1200GS on a new 2012 Super Tenere and get some money back. Or I could keep the not so reliable BMW, expensive to fix BMW, no dealer availability BMW, hang out with stuck up BMW posers and have Woody's build a 21" front wheel and call it done. What would you ADVriders do?

Well it seems you have answered your own question. I may be biased, but i think the Tenere would be a great pick.

I'm glad to see the bike is sticking around and that they are evolving it like the fjr.

I like the new clocks - but i still can't see the bike making a dent in GS sales over here. Shame really.

Looks like most aftermarket stuff that I got on my S10 will fit nicely on the new one but only reason for me to change would be if they sorted the vibe issue.
Cruise control, gear indicator and the new shock e.t.c. would be nice to have but would not "upgrade" because of that.

Did somebody say cruise control? :ear

Ok, now I might finally look at this bike. :deal

There is no excuse for any bike to be without cruise control these days, just silly not to have it.

Is that the 660? I'd take one of those with the new twin motor!

Google: 2010 Super Ténéré Concept (Rally)
Thats where I first saw it. Yes - I would like it in a twin that has a similar feel to the 1200. I like this motor.

Since it states 'Super Ténéré Concept', I'm assuming it was bigger than the 660. I'd buy the 660 after seeing jaumev's build.. if it was available stateside :cry
