im thinking of buying one of these with the Vanquish Throat Mic.

I just got the 530.... I asked a similar question awhile back and got zero replies. I did get some replies over on TT, nothing negative..... I have no riding time with it yet.

    Read about it in TBAM.

Ross Elliot used them on the Trip for Tassie to Cape York

It has a fuction that allows you to track other Rhino GPS units and track a course to meet them there. If one is down and injured.

    Article read very positively

    Im seriously considering the Rhino . . . .

I will scan the article and post

The Garmin 520 that is brought into Australia only has an internal mem of 56MB and despite what the article states does NOT take an SD card these are on the US versions that use a different UHF freq to Australia. We once again only get the poverty pack!!!!! I was also talking to a comms guy today and he suggests 2 separate units because if it something goes wrong you lose both but seperate units you are unlikely to have both fail!

Ive had the older Rhino 130 for a few years now, great rugged unit.
The peer to peer is pretty cool if you ride with other rhino users.
Id like to upgrade to the 500 series, the 5w UHF is pretty nice.

i've just lashed out & bought the Rhino 520 $589AUD on egay + all car & bike accessories $238AUD. i should have it tomorrow or friday WooHoo.

    2 questions.

1: do touratech make a mount for these ? i done a search for (rhino 520) & looked at touratech's site but could not find one.

    2: can these gps's be connected up to a 7" TFT-LCD in-car reverse cam monitor ?

    i also bought a HC-2 helmet cam & all accessories $1,293AUD

    1. RAM make a Rino cradle

    2. No

You got the Australian version, right ?
Because the US version transmitts on different frequencies that are not legal here

Does the rhino visually show you if someone is ringing the UHF? I'm not keen on having helmet audio and like the idea of getting told to stop or something via UHF.

it has a small icon at the very top of the screen. also you can set it to vibrate & or send off a sound (many different sounds to choose from for uhf ring , low battery , satellite loss etc etc.

i'm using the FIRE FOX TECHNOLOGIES vanquish throat mic / bar mount ptt & ear plug speakers. :bow :bow :thumb

I have had my Rino 520 since June 2007 and travelled approx 12000klm with it mounted with no vibration or other issues. I modified the the plastic handlebar mount and mounted it as in the below photos.
