I've been anxiously waiting for this season - camping season. The campgrounds in the State Forest open on the 3rd weekend in April., so 4/20. I'd therefore like to kick this camping season into action with the...

Before he thread gets too far, I'd like to go over some ground rules for the people that camp with me. When I host a campout, I will be there to reserve at least one or two campsites, my name goes on the Ranger's roster, and I'm there at the end to make sure the place is left in an appropriate condition. If someone ELSE wants to host it, they are responsible for it, no guarantee I'll even be there..

We, of course are talking about Pachaug State Forest and there's two campgrounds. I never know which campground I'll camp at until I get there. There are no reservations. 1st come, 1st served. We're either at Green Falls Campground (by the lake), or a couple miles away at Mt Misery Chapman Area (next to the green).

IMPORTANT - Everyone must know the following things :
The Rangers there have full police powers. They WILL ticket you.
It's important to CRAWL (slowly) through the campgrounds. Seriously, there are kids and stuff.
Go slow on park roads. The speed limits are 10mph, so don't race around.
STOP for horses & shut off your bike. A scared horse is NOT a good thing.
You WILL encounter hikers, bikers and who knows what out there. Please be courteous.

Thanks - I know everyone knows the drill, but there are new people every year. As always, it's bring what you ride, ride what you bring. That basically means that all bike types are welcome to attend, we are surrounded by great motorcycle roads with many local attractions. Trails, rough dirt roads, groomed park roads and windy country roads are everywhere.

Here are a couple links to help you find the place.

My Signature has the Enduro Loop map.

This is basically the center of town. Everything is within a few miles of here.

I've already had one moto-camping night this year in that general area! I'm looking forward to the Pachaug camp-n-rides of 2012!

    So are we camping 4/20 - 4/21?

That's what I'm thinking. Camping on both Friday and Saturday nights.

Both campgrounds? I'll be going in Thursday night to set up a tent to reserve a spot. Each camping spot is allowed to have up to 6 people stay at it. I'm not expecting a huge turnout so I'll only plan on one site. If you just show up on Friday afternoon expecting to find a spot, it's usually full. After I find a spot, I make a reply to this thread saying exactly where we are.

Yeah, it was crazy Friday evening. I think the opening coincided with opening day for fishing.

That might be helpful. I can handle it though. I usually grab a sandwich from the local pizza place and go there right after work. Debbie (my wife, yes I'm married) usually is good about lending a hand so it's not a huge deal.

I'm on the fence about taking the whole day off on Friday or not. Someone talk me into it. Otherwise, I'll get there Friday afternoon and finish setting up camp, and get in a short ride.

From the response so far, it may be a two-campsite deal after all. I have close to 6, if not 6 confirmed already.
