The I LOVE THIS GUN Thread

Some one tell me...was this a good deal...?

Remington 870 Wingmaster..vent rib..based on the serial number I believe it is a 1979 manufacture date. 2 3/4 shells..I think barrel length is 24-26 ". There is a sight bead halfway down the barrel and the standard bead at the muzzle. The breech bolt is "jeweled" and the carrier is chrome. Condition is unreal...looks as if someone bought it and never handled or shot it..no marks on the wood and the finish is 100 percent. This gun wasn't refurbished or refinished..it just looks like it is brand new.

I've always wanted one of these..saw it today while I was on pawn shop detail picking up some stolen items (perks of the job..check out all the guns while your working..lol..)

I gave them 350.00 out the door.

It's a Wingmaster so I think you did good especially if it's in mint condition.

I'm not sure of the barrel length..could be 26 to 28 inches.

Great! I just started working at a gun range this week!

The other store had one last year. A guy walked in, rented a .357, got ammo and a target. Walked on the range set up his target, ran it out to 7 yds, picked up the gun, aimed at the target, flipped the gun around and opened his mouth.

The guy that rented to him said he was as normal as the next guy. No indicators that anything was wrong.

Sure hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon… or that we can prevent it before it happens.

All the range shootings around here have made me wonder what would happen if a guy decided to start capping multiples before offing himself. If everyone is facing downrange, with partitions, the shots certainly wouldn't alarm anyone. Could catch lots of folks by surprise before someone took him down. Food for thought...

On second though, maybe I'll just go for a ride tommorow.:huh

Get a small .357 for a carry gun.

The 1911 is just a bit smaller than the gp100 for carry.

I have my stainless Springfield still.

Size is a minor point. Even a bad 1911 trigger is worlds better than a GP100 trigger. Not to mention much faster reloads. Though the GP does have reliability on its side.

Not that this situation is the reason for the design.... The indoor range I like to use has a plexiglass "wall" that faces the counter area of the store. All of the store employees are armed and ccw trained. Most are former military / leo's. It is my guess that should a person decide to go nutso on the firing line like you mentioned that the counter folks would then put the shooter down.

I certainly hope that they never have to confirm my theory.

They aren't here, they are a bunch of 20 somethings probably related to the owner who all think they know everything in the world about guns after their training class for the range.

I get it, but my sp101 is the most of the time carry.

Personally, I never felt out gunned when I carried the Python 2.5in full of bad ass silvertips and a speed loader full of these elk killer handloads I have. If you need to reload a six shooter in a gunfight, you probably are going to end up bloody, or dead anyway.

I've been really tempted by the LCR lately, but I don't know whether I'd get the 38 or the 357. Tales of the SP101 trigger scare me now.
