fancyindigo, Sounds great. I've been doing a lot of google maps/earth looking for "places you can't get to from here". There looks like a lot of dead ends roads that might connect if'in we used the rite words, with the rite accent. Where did you go riding? I did a little solo ride the "last" time I went out....crunched a radiator at 0.5 mph. The front wheel slid out in a muddy spot, and I just stepped off instead of maybe getting hurt or muddy trying to save if. I was laughing as I picked her up....til I saw she was hurt, and I'd be walking. Ordered the new one this morning. Looks like I'll have plenty of time to get her fixed before riding weather returns. Give me a shout whenever you're thinking of a ride.
I found an outta the way road that eventually had a sign that read "state maintenence ends" on my ride last Saturday. I explored it for a bit but it was covered in wet leaves and tight and I had my supermotos on...I will definitely go back with nobbys! I rode from Elkin to Blowing Rock, 221 past Grandfather, backroads to 80, up 80, down 226A, looped back around..rode up 80 again...parkwy to some unnamed gravel road to Jacksontown Rd, Humpback Mtn. Rd, to Altapass hwy, Spruce Pine...and then realized the sun was getting low in the sky...so I high tailed it back to Elkin via 105/Boone/421/268
I range over in the direction of you guys. A lot. You just described some of my usual roads. Maybe sometime we can arrange something. I was telling some of these folks about Valle Crucis the other day, maybe we can all rally somewhere in that area soon.
50*F in December..... there's a certain road about 5 miles from here I never found the "entrance" to (stupid private property signs), so todays plan is to come from the north, and make a nice ride out of it Paint Fork Stucco? :huh 19W and a new road (for me) - to bad it's all Chip and (no) Seal damn surface (roughed up asphalt with a layer of gravel) How's that for an mailing address? drive-by shots and a backwards shot (all others are of my helmet too :huh)
near Spivey Gap my flair is still "hanging on" Dead end: I guess they are serious (berm reinforced with logs) the only water crossing of the day... puddles 19W one-handed is a new one for me and another new road for me.... that's a "keeper" for sure 75 miles later I finally found the road I was looking for - less than 5 miles from home I feel better now....
.. baconnnnnnnnnnnnn .. .. which also brings to mind another fav .. I love you .. I love bacon .. I love you .. I love bacon .. bacon .. bacon .. bacon .. BACONNN .. .. lol .. awesome day .. thanks for sharing it with us too ..
Is the road/trail 5 miles from your house private or open to the public? Looks like a good place to ride. Details
thanks normally I don't do anything to my pics (besides cropping or throwing out a lot), but I did play around a bit earlier: one more car (trying to distract from the background) same pic as earlier with enhanced colors some other "try"
That is how it should be!! Take the roundabout way to get where you're going. I REALLY need to get up that way for a couple days.
