Anyone having a problem with a non-working low fuel light on their 500 XCW or EXC? Mine worked the first few tanks of fuel but has not since.

Have checked the bulb and it is fine. Did install the fuel cap sock-type filter about the same time the low fuel light quit functioning. Would the filter have stopped a float from lowering as the fuel level dropped? I always assumed the fuel level float was internal to the pump.

Will probably pull the fuel pump soon if no one has a better idea. All fuses are good and the bike runs great. Has the European mapping installed.

    Thoughts?

Mine isn't working either. I posted my issue in KTMtalk as well and go no response.

    rotor,

Hopefully someone else has had this problem and figured out it's source.

A long thin straight slot screwdriver works just fine. :D

Well I took the fuel pump assembly out of the 500's gas tank. The low fuel sensor is not working and needs replaced. Dash light will come on if the sensor is short circuited. Unfortunately, KTM only sells the sensor with the fuel pump which is big $$$. No markings on the sensor so unsure how to find a source for replacing it. Thoughts again?

TooTall, mine actually came on today but I didn't notice it until my bike quit. I would accept it and keep an eye in it or carry some fuel.

May not help but I wouldn't pay for a new fuel pump.

I'm in the process of getting my 500 ready for the cam1k (a one thousand mile offroad ride in colorado).

Has anyone gone to a larger foot peg on their 500? If so, I'd be interested to hear what you went to and how you like it.

    :lurk

    Yes,
CJ Designs extenders. overall bigger footprint. I prefer the standard size. It is good for standing on pegs all day & not snagging my Klim, over the boot, pants. They have longer extension, but that is more for the bigger bikes.
    Have them in this pic.

Also Kurt has some custom ones. I have only seen these in person. I haven't tried them yet.
    Bottle opener = bonus.

I have CJ Designs extensions. They are awesome. I did 1700mi last week through Colorado and the larger pegs helped substantially. The extensions kept my ankles and knees straight when standing rather than bowed out from not enough contact area with my boot. They should be on any adv riders short list of mods.

That's funny.. I have Craig's extensions on my 950 but for some reason it never occurred to me they'd fit on the 500 :lol3

What kind of range do you guys get out of the 3.5 gallon tanks? When I run the bigger thank, I think I'll usually be running my SM gearing too, so even better.

So I went ahead and bought the KTM 3.5 gallon tank, and now I'm kind of stuck with something. The stock mounting bolt and fuel connection bolt seem to be too long for the thinner walled 3.5 gallon tank. According to the site I ordered it from I'm supposed to have another bolt and fuel connector. Here's the picture of my problem:

The bolts are cinched down all the way. Anyone with this tank care to tell me if you had extra hardware provided with the tank?

Headed out for a week of offroad all over Colorado on the 500.

Did a bunch of upgrades/updates/etc to the bike this week in preparation (including finding two of my valves out of spec :patch ). I'll post detailed pics when back :freaky

Geek - dig the map but not sure what I'm looking at. No landmarks listed and it's not a fancy link type map.
I spent 10 days exploring out there this past June and am already plannning the 2014 summer effort. Trying to become a CO trail expert (from 2000 miles away :D).
