I am in the process of buying a 2009 R12GS. On that bike, I'd like to install GSA-style tank crash protectors, mostly to be able to neatly mount auxiliary lights.

On my '06 GS I have H&B engine crash bars. I am pretty happy with their performance (yes, I had a chance to test that...) and appearance.

Still, I am curious what else is there around in the aftermarket world for an engine- and tank-protector set. What do you use? Did you find that worthwhile?

I hope this is not much of a 205 post; I searched the threads but only found messages related to the '05-'07 style tank covers.

That's my buddies 08 GS with the HB uppers modified to stock lowers. We welded a clamp to fit. Hindsight would have been to just buy a complete set of HB crash bars.

I'm a fan of the AltRider crash bars. I have my Clearwater Krista's mounted on the uppers.

Touratech also makes a set of uppers and lowers.
