    hey guys!

ive been waiting awhile to make this thread, and now i can finally do it ! so , on 8/30/2010 exactly 2 years ago , i bought my first motorcycle at age 15 and 1/2 . it was a wr250x supermoto which i loved dearly . after 2 years of seasonal riding (here in ohio it snows alot) i put 9000 miles on her (mainly street, few fire roads and whoops) , no accidents, all stock except for new bars. so i sold her today , exactly two years later, on a trade in offer for a wr450f.

here she is at the dealership, waiting to be sold :cry

so i got a smoking deal , and worked my ass off all summer working over 60 hours a week , so i could afford this monster. here she is after her first 45 minute ride around my yard :

sorry , these are cell phone pics, ill post some better quality ones later !

so , hopefully i get the rest of my parts to make it road worthy in the next couple of days . i plan on showing pics of the wiring, and showing who ever is interested a way to make this bike legal, and the parts you will need, or can use .

after the "build", if you can call it that, i plan to update this thread with riding pictures, and my thoughts and views on this bike , as a novice, young rider, who has never ridden dirt lol . :D

    ****Broken picture links fixed

    parts list "as revealed" :

Edge2 Universal Tail Light Holder Kit

That's awesome. I don't understand why Yamaha doesn't bring the street legal version of the WR450F here to the USA. I wipe the drool of my keyboard when I look at it on the European Yamaha website. Good luck with your project!

thank you ! she was bought used, and isnt broken in yet, only about 40 miles

yea, i know what you mean. it would save us a headache , and they would definitely sell. the only other 450 option is the ktm at 10 grand or the dizzer 400

Edit: I was wrong about the WRX tailight. I glanced at the WRX and initially thought it was the same tail light eliminator kit I used to have. Re-reading the post I see you may not have even been talking about the WRX tailight. Sometimes I post faster than I read. Sorry for any confusion!

If you don't mind me asking, what is the ballpark street price on the WR450? I've pretty much decided on buying a KTM 500EXC, but the nearly $10k price is a tough pill to swallow. I'm just not sure I want to try to plate an off road bike here in PA.

Although I'm 36 now and make a decent salary, I can relate to you saving every penny you can to put toward a bike. If you're anything like me, you'll always be squirrling away for one project or another.

Nope, I replied to the post without reading or looking carefully. I edited my prior post to clarify.

i priced out shroud and light housing
126 for the light houseing and 19 for shroud the housing even tho sounds expensive is cheaper than the stock wr250r heaqdlamp

For a little bit more you can get a
Much better light and looks (IMO) - 7" H4 (with optional 80/100w bulb).

Good call! Personally , I don't like the headlight on my wr450. Maybe it will grow on me . I've always loved the look of the big round "baja" style lights
