I'm hoping to do parts or all of a loop of Lolo and Magruder and am wondering who has tracks of them? I have looked on my Mapsource Metro and have a basic idea, but would rather have someones tracks to overlay onto my trip.
Well, sort of. I haven't been on any of these roads, but I would love to make the trip myself some day. I have read up on the Lolo Pass and Magruder routes and got as far as plotting routes in Mapsource. I think they are right. Now that you can draw tracks in Mapsource, I guess someday I'll have to sit down and trace over it. ExpertGPS is good for that also. If you are interested send me an email and I can send the file to you. (It's a "gdb" file, so I can attach it here unless I lie about it.) The file will autoroute correctly in Mapsource with these parameters: Map set: City Select North America v7 Avoidance: none Vehicle: Car/Motorcycle Calc style: Faster Time Road Selection: 1 stop toward minor roads BRF
Found some tracks from others and added to the ones I had. This looks like the start of a great loop. Can someone finish it on the east side?
This is how a Jerzey guy Knows http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166318&highlight=guys+idaho+trailie You want a route ? This is the "mother" I have all the details you may want.
when you decide to take the ride, let me know 'cause I'd like to tag along. I'll be riding the Magruder Corridor sometime this summer.
I got dockingPilot's route and a couple of others in that neighborhood. My wife and I will be on our KLRs in Idaho most of the summer!
I took my son and daughter on this ride, on the Montana side of magrudor make sure you do your self a favor and stop by a nice hotel restaurant it has a grass landing strip and they cater to private pilots. West fork lodge and airport, Tex and his wife are good people. If you order a steak do not ask for steak sauce tex will not give it to you. He's right it's great on it's own. Good food and nice enough rooms. Definitely reserve early if possible. Last year we rode south to the north fork and spent the night. Then on to challis via panther creek. On your way you will pass cobalt it takes you by a road to the Craig's. Awesome beautiful area. I think it is a definite must see. A little out of the way but worth it. When you get onto Morgan creek look for darling creek which will dump you into challis. Or just ride Morgan creek to the highway and ride north to the Pahsimeroi road. Pahsimeroi is wide open and fast riding enjoy.
