When I bought mine, the dealer told me to bring it back at 15,000 miles for a valve adjustment. I've always wondered if he was just trying to get me back there or if there was truth to it. I'll check the manual next time I'm down at the shop.

Honda shop manual calls for inspection every 25,600 km's (16k miles)

I have 33k km's now, not sure if they have ever been checked though so I can't say for sure if it's needed. Probably worth a check at least.

Had them checked and all were within spec and each side was the same (.15 & .25 IIRC)

Just bought my 3rd 919. I've owned A LOT of bikes and I'm still amazed with the bike.

Light, torquey, comfortable, with 200 mile range. I dare you to find another bike that compares.:evil

Can't argue with that. I'm looking to change things up a bit but I'm having a hard time finding something compareable.

    Grats on the purchase.

The closest bike IMO is the 1st Gen FZ1, but it's a little heavier, less torque (more HP though), and has carbs.

Bandits are also close but way heavier.

The FZ09 looks like a contender but will only have a 150 mile or so range.

+1 I test rode a dozen bikes. Anything better than the 919 was out of my price range.

The closest bike to the 919 I've ridden was the 1050 Tiger. It was twice the money and not as dependable.

Got my '04 a couple of months ago, it's pretty much the perfect motorcycle if you ask me. I'll be getting a 2nd one this winter and making into my touring bike.

How are you getting 200 miles? I ride 95% highway at a sedate 4800 RPM on top gear & I get 150 max before the light comes on. New plugs, new filter, fresh oil, new chain & sprockets. Ideas?>

Mine's all stock, I don't run real hard, mostly back roads/blacktops. The last tank I filled at 220 miles and it took a little over a .5 gallon. I'm getting about 49 MPG.

I will tell you this, chain slack/cleanness/condition has a huge impact on fuel mileage with the 919. More than any other bike I've owned. If my fuel light comes on at 150 miles, I know it needs some chain care.

One more plus to the 919, it tells you when your chain needs maintenence..:rofl
