My versys is the most fun bike I have owned. With the hyperpro suspension upgrades, laced wheelset and armor, it becomes a pretty bad ass adventure bike for fire roads etc.

Mine came used with Happy Trails bags. Well made. Definitely impressed with them so far.

So I posted in this thread before but now an update. I bought the bike January 23rd of last year, and now have just under 23k miles. I use it as a daily vehicle (I don't own a car now). It has been my therapy, my mistress (I can thrash it all I want and it keeps begging for more), and my travel guide (It seems to always point me in a direction and keep going).

I don't treat it like a queen. I drop it, I put oil in, I adjust the chain (when it gets really bad... my mistake), and with my BT-023 rear tire I can go ~9k miles before replacing needing a new one... granted I have been looking at some dual sport tires that work better off road :1drink

All I have really done to the bike is mount the control knobs for my heated gear, and when I was on a road trip last year I visited my sister in Star, ID (Boise area) and bought some Happy Trail side cases which have been amazing (aka: you can drop the bike on them and they keep going.)

Here are some pictures of my travels:

I decided that if I couldn't do any mods to the bike I would just go for New Paint.

So I went from THIS ->

I think the desert tan looks good, I'm a sucker for flat colors though.

    Edit: crash bars sold

Took my first long trip on my Versys and I got to say... I like my V even more now!

I've had this bike for a couple of years as my commuter and my wife and I have 2 up on short over night trips, but nothing like this last trip... not a 2up trip but lots of miles and lots of pavement was eaten up...

We left Friday, 5/31 at 3pm and headed east.. destination...

Tail of the Dragon // Deals Gap is on the western edge of the Great Smokey Mountains, there's hundreds of amazing switchbacks to be had... I've never been there and it was on my bucket list, so me and a bud decided to head out..

We got to Nashville, after a beautiful trip through KY, split down Land Between the Lakes, arriving at our hotel about 11pm.. woke up early and headed to the Dragon.. only a 205 mi ride.. but it was worth it.. good riding and met a ton of good fellow bikers..

We headed out Sunday from Lenoir City, about 506 miles from home.. and 80 miles riding in a down pour!

    Total trip stats..

What I'm thankful for on my Versys.. Givi/Pelican cases, Corbin seat, highway pegs, heated grips(yep needed them!), Powerlet outlets, Scorpion tires! She handed amazing in the rain.. stable and confident. I think the highway pegs are huge for long trips because it allows you to move around a bit on the saddle, not just lay our feet atop them but get your arse off the seat if you need too.

I'm super impressed with this little 650.. it did very very good.. woohoo!

Tail of the Dragon... CHECK! #bucketlist

Looks like a great ride! A little far from Calgary for me, but someday...

What highway pegs are those? I've been thinking about getting some but most of the ones I've seen are big bulky chrome things with skulls on them, which isn't my taste.

    Thanks!

They are Rivco highway pegs mounted on SW-Motech engine guards...

I have the SW motech engine guards, so these look like they'll work well.

    Thanks again!
