First off, let me say Sanjoh is the man. I pm'd him with my hair branded idea and he was nothing but informative and supportive. He hooked me up with everything I needed and even wired up a wireless dimmer custom to control my 3 headlight assembly. Enough talk, I'll let the pics explain it. So, grand total is 5 model 60's. 3 mounted in the headlight, and ran on a wireless dimmer. The yellow two are hard wired and operate at 100%, for off road use only... This set up is low amp draw, and turns pitch black into daylight. I absolutely suggest and encourage any and everyone to get at least a couple of these on your bike!
More info/pics on that template and where those 3 mounting screws attach.... for the DR650 crowd, please.
Its an '03, the naked one I currently have 1 moutned to the side of my normal headlight, using whats left of my original HD mount and the speed cable holder bracket of my XR. Seems to doing the job for now. I wired it directly into my High beam, could this cause issues?
The template is 100% homemade. I started with a paper grocery bag, and whittled down a piece to fit. Then transferred it to cardboard and refit more precisely. Then came the aluminum. Once it fit perfect, I cut the holes, painted it and installed it into the headlight housing. I then used bulkhead mounting brackets that I obtained from Sanjoh to mount the lights. Piece of cake! Its not perfect, but works perfectly! If my explanation is clear as mud, feel free to ask any questions you may have.
Only obscene while everything is operating at 100%. On road I only operate the 3 headlights somewhere between 20 and 30% I'd guess. Have yet to be so much as flashed.
Yeah, I put the 30's on my F800R to be seen and they are GREAT. More than I ever expected. Just ordered new lights for the GS. Sorry PIAA, it was fun while it lasted....
No problems as long as the wiring/fuse is large enough to support the additional 28 watts. That a great mounting spot as well, gets the light up high for more distance.
Sanjoh, what's the wiring awg? i'm going to connect my lights with some of these http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSe...ang=en&keywords=455-1150-ND&x=16&y=16&cur=USD and since the pins are up to 22awg and rated at 7A, these seem like they should be GTG right? http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSe...g=en&keywords=455-1320-1-ND&x=15&y=15&cur=USD
Can someone tell me where I can buy a Waterproof DC/DC Converter 12V Step down to 5V Power Supply Module and have it shipped quickly, like w/i 3 days? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Waterproof-...-Power-Supply-Module-/221117981188#vi-content
The waterproof part is the killer. Can you locate it somewhere where it doesn't have to be? In a box? Sorry for the thread hijack...I'm out.
I looked at that very table. The draw is <3A for the lights right? so even a startup draw of double, which seems highly unlikely, the 22 should be good? I'm redoing my entire wiring on my bike, so this is the topic du jour for me. I'm trying to learn all this S that I've ignored for years because I didn't get it.
That should be fine, no startup draw, max is 2.8amps per Model 60. Don't forget to checkout our connector selection, we have some motorcycle specific sets available. Hope your rewire goes well, spring is just around the corner
I've been riding this year already. Start about 29 and out. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/13VgNv6dtpI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
