I am not sure that many of you all know how to easily make your own GPS Tracklogs using both maps and Satellites. There are some really easy ways you can do it using Google Maps and some online conversion tools. I thought I would make a video to show everyone how easy it can be.

This works pretty good. Thanks for posting.

One question though. In Google Maps when drawing out your track, how do your delete the last point you made?? If I hit escape it deletes the entire track I have created up to that point.

When I am mapping out a possible track, sometimes I choose a path and want to back up a bit and choose a different way.

I just came across this. Google Maps has changed a lot since this post (not all for the better) and I don't think this will work anymore.

    FYI

    Go to http://maps.google.com.
Click the Help button (white question mark in a blue circle) at the bottom.
Click Return to classic Google Maps.

    Should get ya there. :thumb

    It did! Thanks.

I did not realize I could return to the Classic Maps view. I hope that stays around for awhile, the New and Improved Google map product has a lot of features missing.

    Thanks again.

I don't like the new version, for reasons not even related to this thread! You just made my day, thanks! :clap

Hmmmm... guess i'm not as savvy as I thought I was. Reverted back to 'Classic Maps' and then clicked on 'create map'. But while there is a line tool present, I don't see a tool to enable the line to follow a road.

    EDIT....

Disregard. Savvysmurph back on his game.

Once in Classic Maps, you will need to click 'My Places' on the left side.

Then click 'Create from Classic Maps' in order to get the tools for drawing lines. If you only select 'Create Map', they won't appear. Leave it to Google to make it frustrating. Yes... i'm a Mac guy :-). And on a Vstrom. Simple is good. ha!
