Looking at a 92 600R that burns a "little" oil for almost $1,000. If the countershaft is in good condition, is that fair? I think I can only afford $800 IF that. Other than faded plastics it looks to be in good condition for a 92. Really want a 90s model for the rear disc and cartridge forks even though there's a lot of 80s in the classifieds.

If it burns said oil at start up, should I stay away? If it's after a few rides, should I be interested?

If he's firm on the price, I could only do 2 payments, but that's probably unheard of for private sales, right?

I'd love to hear your thoughts guys, thanks!

all that depends on how many tools you have, how much money you have, and how much time you have. for 8 hun, I may do it depending on the parts that are on the bike.....

Well this will be my project bike. I plan on doing a small restoration job on the bike. Powder coated frame, new plastics, and fix up anything I can with my skills (bearings, seals, etc). I don't really want to do a valve job, but rings I might. Got lots of tools and time.

It is one of my goals to clean up an old XR600R and commute on it and keep my 650R for mostly dirt. :evil

    Hey guys.. First post here.

I have a 92 pig that has lots of motor work.. Previous owner had build it to smoke all the 650s and CR & KX 500s out in the desert. And after much headache with needing to rewire the entire bike, I finally got it all street legal...

My next question is that I have a major leak from the clutch shaft and I am wondering how hard of a fix that is? It has leaked since we got it 10 years ago but since I have been romping it around town smoking Harleys, the leak had gotten much worse. Is it a full pull apart of the case or as simple as pulling the little shaft out and replacing a o-ring? If I have to pull the side case off then I also am going to get a new rewound stator to replace the XL650 stator the old owner put in there.

    Thanks for the help guys..

And finally a picture to show off my sleeper that I have. [IMG]

Easy fix. Pull the stator cover, lift clutch arm out, pry out seal, replace seal, reassemble. You will need a new stator cover gasket which you can get with that new Ricky Stator.

Good to hear.. The XL650 stator that is in there works but I am between rewinding it myself or getting a new one. I am never going to run a massive system but I would like to up the power for the headlight.. And I figure it would be best to do everything at once when I have it all apart.

would a press fit/sleeve and clamps be enough?

guy doesnt want to weld stainless...I cant seem to get good exhaust pipe in stainless...
And I dont want to cut up my powercore midpipe

anybody made a joint out of aluminum or even normal steel? and paint?

Don't even think about it. Turn around and walk slowly away. You have been warned. Nuff said.

Also, just to prove my bike wasn't a slacker I will show of a photo of it (this is also why my con rod thrust washer decided to commit suicide). I also know that the speedo unit in the second photo is sought after and hard to find, or so I believe because I looked everywhere for one to put on a different bike and couldn't find one...

By the way, yes that is me on the very same tires in the photos above, on a 21 inch front.....proves you don't need a supermoto to have fun!
