Ifn I'da had a knobby on the back, I coulda gone another 50 feet before I got stuck. Luckily the frame kept it from sinkin too deep.

I'll do a RR with more pics, & how I got out of it, when I get home

I can't wait to see the look on those gators' faces when you roll into town on your XLDS, XLGS, XKLR, XLDR, XLSER (or whatever you're calling it).

Somehow I get the strange idea the video stopped where it did so the camera operator could help push. :D

looking forward to it doug. just gotta re-emphasize how much i appreciate your sharing all of your exploits and adventures with the masses. looking thru the travel section/ stories in my local bookstore leaves me wishing for a rtw doug memoir. it'd be way better then most of the books available.
    cheers.

Forget scaring the gators off, just ride them. I need to see if I can do a conversion on this one.

I'm thinkin shove an engine in, and just mount the rear legs on either side of a wheel, and I've got paddles for water crossings!

I'm liking the sporty build report. I have a neighbor who has been trying to sell me a 1200 for years. Never thought it could be anything I'd like until seeing your build, and the other ones posted here. maybe after this is done...

    its a 2003 Harley Davidson 100th Anniversary Edition 1200 XL/GS Dirtster

you think that will all fit on the sidecover? :lol3

I need to find someone to make me a few XL/GS stickers for it tho, in the BMW style script.

    that'll annoy the macgregorites.

we got 8" of snow in Alabama. Crazy!
So while Im waiting for my finished wheels to come back for the sporty, Poly & I played in the snow.

1st, well, we had to build a snowman.
Its the law here. when we have the once a decade snowstorm, everyone has to build a snowman.
Of course I couldnt do that in the normal way....

    I call him Freezy Rider
