Congratulations on your new bike. When did you buy it? I take it you got it from Seavers. Enjoy the beauty. I was there yesterday, they had a seminar presented by CHP. It was good and very informative. I sat on the the GSW with low seat. Low seat is a crap, hardly any cushion.
How about I zip 'em up and leave 'em on my google drive for you to review. Both of these magazines are available on-line, in digital format and well worth the subscription fee. [mod edit - link to scanned articles removed] It's a zipped file, so download, extract and enjoy. http://www.motorcycleconsumernews-digitalmagazine.com/mcnews/201308d/?pg=12&pm=2&u1=friend
rather than start a new thread.....in case someone already started one...and since this seems like the current hi visibility thread.... do you guys know in the Sept. issue of Dirt Bike there is an article on GS's including the LC? not that it's any wealth of info and it's not even listed on the cover but I thought it my civic duty to mention it. pope
Just read a post in German "Motorrad" from a buyer. "The whole truth" "...the new GS is not perfect. Clutch and gearbox are a real step back, the mechanical noise reminds me of a Ducati..." Typically German "Motorrad" is very pro BMW, only in the last issue they mentioned some clutch/gearbox issues, especially in the lower 3 gears and loud noise during gear changes on their long term test model. They said it has to do with series production, not all clutches are the same. Summary: A fantastic motorcycle with it's own characteristics, so not perfect.
Thanks! (unfortunately you're missing page 52-53 of the motorcyclist test.) Reading the reviews, the gushing about the bike was almost embarrassing. Apparently there are good reasons 3 people in my riding group have already bought the new GS this year. The video version of this test: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oIbu6q84D8
If they're available to buy online, do the right thing and pay for them. Magazines are struggling to stay in business and stealing isn't cool.
You are right and if there are single issue sales I will, but I don't plan to make subscriptions when I need a single issue in a year (or two some times). You see I get my news and general updates, from Internet and only revert (or add more info) from press etc. when I am interested about something specific.
Sure? I don't see it... and it's the GS part that we care. I downloaded after your post about fixing the zip, but I still miss page 52-53. Maybe it needs a new link? Or a new zip with just those pages?
[mod edit - link to scanned articles removed] I didn't change the file names, just added the missing page as "missing page" And motorcyclist can be had bought on google play store, I'm sure it can be found on iTunes and other online outlets.
Sorry. Going back to the topic. There is already one guy with a photo of the damper 2014-spec 1200GS. No reactions yet. (ok this is partly explained by that the thread is mainly fueled by people that already have the 2013 model, but still...) To me, this is major news (yes we already knew it is coming). I really wonder how this is already in the hands of someone since this was supposed to come in the next update (in maybe 5-6 months). They were supposed to just take orders for this model this month. I really wonder how it feels (esp. with someone that know how 2013 feels). If it is adequate, if it is well tuned. I mean... if this isn't something to comment, what is.
Where did your 5-6 months estimate come from? People here in the US are saying that the '14 models they ordered will start showing up in 5-6 weeks?
I still don't get the weird US model date descriptions. Anyway 5-6 weeks is still far from someone already having one. The announcement about the changes was like 20 days ago or something. So they changed all these things in less than a year than the bikes intro?
This has nothing to do with US. It's the manufacturers MY designation. BMW started building 2014 GS models from early August on. Mine was build on August 19th. People in Europe (Germany mainly) are already getting their 2014 bikes. http://www.webbikeworld.com/BMW-motorcycles/2014-bmw-motorcycles/ It was mid July. So, more than a month ago. There aren't that many changes on the 2014 bikes. Pretty much a few electronics updates, the steering damper, looks (different color springs), and different package options. Very minor update. BMW has done similar things even mid-cycle.
