(But you're right, it does seem a bit shinier. Must come with geezerhood)

That is not what my ass said after the last long jaunt. :D
(I'm secretly saving up to buy a 90s Road King. Must be full geezerhood approaching.)

No one can escape geezerhood, fortunately they make super confy bikes today. I had a sporty on the early 70' and still paying for the dental bills, but it cured kidney stones in the first mile.

    I don't see any 1944 Hondas touring either ! :lol3

Just funnin', even though I have one, I refuse to ride with the HD crowd. I like to call them "Lifestylers".

Don't see many 44s in any event. "Essential Civilian Use" production? Gotta be a tale behind that one.

    Here is my old ride
    [IMG]

But I'm married and needed a ride that could work for two people that could be ridden for long periods of time. I'm not really used to photography, so the pictures aren't the greatest.

Obviously I cleaned her up a bit, but the photos are of my first rides that were more than 50 miles at a time. I am in southern Georgia and you'd be surprised how quickly you accumulate bugs and grime especially with whitewalls. When I squished my first bug on on the way to Fernadina Beach going through the Okefenoke national wildlife refuge and the Bethea State Forest I was extremely proud...It was kind of like I earned a trophy. Cleaning up my bike after I got home gave me an intense satisfaction. I am looking forward to learning the art of being Adventure Rider and I hope to learn how to use my camera a bit better so I can capture and share what I've seen.

Seeing photo's and videos of baggers doing poorly at Deal's gap and elsewhere kind of worries me, but I figure if I learn how to handle her I'll be ok. I plan on taking my ride to Livorno with me, but I may need to get a secondary ride to handle the terrain. Anyone have any info?

Nice job Kirk. Did you make the brake caliper bracket yourself? I'm looking to do the same. Well done :clap

Very nicely done. Will the belt hold up off-road? I have heard one rock will break a belt.

I had a template made, but then scared myself out of it (I need brakes). Decided to bite the bullet and purchase one from Fab Kevin. Although, it still needed some modifications, because the floating rotor is about 3/16" larger in radius... Can't say enough good things about Kevin though, his customer service was outstanding...

So far so good, but once it snaps, I've got a chain conversion on the list...

Some beautiful machinery in here guys!

Bought my first Harley last summer, a 2001 XLH883 Sportster

but it wasn't quite big enough for the lady and I to use for long distance work, so sold it and bought one of these

and just last month, traded that in for a brand new FXDF

Have had it stage one'd with Khrome Werks pipes, tribar rear light, smoked t/signals, black axle covers, sundowner seat and sissy bar with rack.

Love the bike, so much fun!

I had a black Fatbob for a few months before trading it in for a Road King and I loved the thing. If I ever become independently wealthy I'll have to buy another one. The reason we traded it in is because I wanted something that would be more comfortable for long distance 2up riding, the wife felt like she was going to fall off on the FB and it didn't feel right putting touring gear on the Dyna.

I was able to confidently navigate muddy dirt roads on the FXDF and it was a joy to ride around town.
