I have recently added a solo 1967 k750m to the garage, it runs, but sounds and looks rough enough for a engine overhaul.
Is it unrealistic to expect these SV engines (solo) to be able to hit and stay on highway speeds? (100kmph for me)
I would like to hear from others that have modified their bike to do this, and the parts i may need to change out.

No problems doing 100 km/h day in and day out as a solo WITH solo FD gearing (3.89). Since K-750s were sidecar bikes you probably have a 4.625 FD and you'll blow the motor very quickly through over-reving.

Lot's of information on SV by Catweazle, Serious Black/Serios Bill, Polar Paul etc.

Also look at http://k750.myluna.de/ (in German).

I'll take a guess that you bought the bike from RussianDave in NSW. If that's the case, judging from what I've seen of other bikes he's sold, yours will be a bitza and a complete rebuild will be in order. However, the basic bike is solid and parts and improvements are fairly readily available. Have a read of this http://bcozz.multiply.com/journal/item/2283/Serious-Blacks-Chang-Jiang-project and copy it to your computer before the site goes tits-up.

    Hubris,

You need to hang out a bit on the Soviet Steeds forum. Get in touch with Immulmen (Chris Jordan). He has built TWO 750 flathead sidecar rigs that will cruise all day at 100kph. Chris did not use any special tricks when building those motors. It was just a matter of careful attention to detail. Your goal of 100kph for your K750 solo is a goal easily met. With solo gears, you will easily exceed 100kph. Drop by Soviet Steeds. It's mostly Ural stuff, but there is a dedicated group of Dnepr guys that hang out there.

    Hope to see you there.

If your racist and believe in the right to arm bears, Soviet Steeds is a good site. If you want good information from experienced people, and not those that have owned a Ural for three months and therefore know everything about Soviet bikes - go elsewhere.

I have an old used and abused K-750 and it would do 100kph while dragging a sidecar on 100-150 mile trips. I would stop about once every hour. I think that's the most either of us could take of the other at any one time!
The SV did blow up after a couple of years, but it was never really in great shape when I bought it! I was surprised it lasted as long as it did.
If you rebuilt it right, put in solo gears, and drove it as a solo, it'd probably last forever at 100kph.

That's my plan to do with an M-72 if I ever get the time, space, and money!
