Yap. I used to be the Oranje tourguide. We did a 250km ride out on Friday and Saturday, this picture was taken in the historic center of Braunfels/Hassia where we did the lunch break. Cheers, Lars
Gidday Simon and Dave, at first I thought it was a helicopter landing pad , but I did look at the German club site earlier, there are just so many BIGS overthere amazing. Thanks for posting the pic,s or the link Bambi.I remember it took Ray and Blue a week to tell me how to post photo,s then Ray wreckons he created a monster, I put up about 10 photo,s in a row .
Cheers Mate Actually someone else has said to me that the DR hardly ever has clutch problems and that maybe its worth dropping the plates out and giving them a clean.. Ill do that and your suggestion. Lovley, Cheers Tim
Hello Tim, I think, the other guy forgot to mention a 'n'. The Bigs do near to never have a clutch problem. The clutch is very nearly or even exactly the same as in the first GSX-Rs and they should easily handle the 50 hp of our bikes. As far as I know the only problem that occurs on the clutch itself very sometimes is a washer behind the clutch-basket. This can work it's way into the alloy of the backside of the basket, thus getting the whole assembly out of adjustment. I'm sure, that Resi is much better at explaining this ... I'd check the cable before starting the disassembly! To all of you: Concerning the pics I have to point you back to the bespoken links. Iris had an idea this morning (I wasn't authorized using our online-foto-depot as she had uploaded the pics from her notebook) but we'll have to test this today-evening. Kind regards to everyone, Bambi ... still a bit over-happy after this Big-weekend ...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/80147839@N02/sets/72157630044731999/ These are the pics taken by Iris and me. Click the first one to enlarge. Then you'll find two buttons top right of the pic. One's called 'weiter' to go on and the other 'zurück' to go back. If you double-click the enlarged pic again this will appear even bigger in a black frame. On top of the pic you'll find the 'weiter'- and 'zurück'-buttons you already know. The arrow in the middle starts the slide-show! One problem still occures: The pics are mixed, they don't go from first to last ... don't know why! Hopefully everything works fine now! Kind regards, Bambi
http://www.flickr.com/photos/80147839@N02/7176160911/in/set-72157630044731999 Now that's what I call an air filter.....
Thats gonna need a new ones.. Left hand one blocked as well. Was it my problem. Who knows.. This is the jet from the side I couldn't get off. Maybe the old owner left them alone, or tried and gave up.. Defo time for some new ones.
Im in two minds if I should take the air jets out now.. maybe just try and clean them alittle with a sewing needle??? I don't want to get stuck with more chewed brass?? Tim
Tim I would buy new ones to replace those inthe picture, don,t use a needle to clean jets maybe something softer like a nylon bristle from a broom ,and some compressed air.
Hi Bambi some really nice shots of the BIGS, was that a aussi flag I saw at the lookout, your country side is very similiar to where I live. Are you getting a alluminium bash plate from Lars I noticed yours was off Miss Marlboro was looking her best as were all the bikes. I may have spotted the HRT yellow bike roughly in the middle yes/no,and I loved that blokes hat that starts off with a ape and goes through the years to a bloke on a bike , very clever . Allso a little question , there is a picture showing 1 tent and bike , the tent looks like a 2 person one and it has a small awning to the side so when you unzip it water does not drop to the inside of the tent , do you by any chance know what brand it is , thanks.
Hello Rob, it's nice that you like the pics! Trying to answer your questions: The engine-guard was off my bike because I did an oil-change 2 or 3 days earlier and I'm used to leave it off for the first few days to see if everything stays dry under the engine. I ran a bit out of time to re-fix it after that test and there's one damaged thread that I still have to repair. Before doing so I'll have to chat with Lars, if his alloy-bashplate uses the same 6mm bolts or if I have to upgrade to 8 mms ... You are right concerning the Australian flag in the background. It's been for you and our other Australian friends that I asked Iris to take a few more pics in that direction to get it visible! Nice you found it!!! If you spotted Hessler's rallye-bike you're bloody-right. He's been there, too. Although he left us saturday-morning to care for his 1 1/2 year old son Nils who was brought to hospital with stomach-ache. Stefan returned on saturday-evening as things had bettered. Seems it's been an appendicitis. Luckily he just had a one hour's ride home this year. The tent you mentioned: was it the one I fotographed from top of the van with a white bike and it's owner, spanner in hand, beside? The tent being silver with purple? I will try to find out. Just tell me, if this is the right one. Many of us are not reguarly out for camping (often the Big-meeting is the only time of year to do so). So the amount of no-name-tents is huge! For 3 or 4 nights a simple tent is good enough ... Kind regards, from Iris too, Bambi
I forgot about that base-cap: These 'evolution'-caps are very common here in Germany. From the apes to trials-/off-road-biking or road-racing and all other kinds of pass-time ... canoeing, horse-riding, free-climbing, bicycles and and and ... More regards, Bambi
Hi Bambi , yes thats the one the guy with the spanner, http://www.flickr.com/photos/80147839@N02/7176129819/in/set-72157630044731999/ You know I searched the web for months trying to get a tent with a small awning because if its raining I could still cook with my jetboil just outside the tent , IF you do track down the brand for me but no rush I was wondering allso was it a 4 season tent. OK Lars,s bashplate users the standard bolts for fixing , you may be able to go up say 1mm in size to retap the thread and drill the metal spacer but it will be close, you can get away with no spacers on the sides. Thanks for aussi flag flying , I thought now he,s a good bloke eh, and it did bring a smile down under. thanks and cheers, Rob.
Rob... I will have a look at our tent tomorrow and give you a brand name. It's only a small 2 person job, cosy for me and mrsZ but it has an enclosed area big enough for both our gear with enough room for cooking too. It's designed for cycle touring so is still fairly small.
James I was thinking allso the problem with your bike , missing and farting If I remember correctly you have tried another CDI unit and it is still the same . Perhaps it is petrol related it could be a split in the diafram rubber the one that lifts the slides, there under the plastic caps on top of your carbs, but tank removal may be needed . allso check the C clips on the needles.
Hi Chaps I'm a long time lurker, first time poster! I read this thread almost everyday. So strangely I feel I know most of you already. Anyways, thought it was about time to show my face and say thanks for the guidance and wisdom you've provided (although you didn't know at the time). I'll be sure to try and contribute more from now on. Here's a few pics of the Big anway, cheers Rebuild last year: Stainless Front Pipe (made by a friend) How she looks at the moment. Vid (if it works) of Going up Stanage edge in the Peak District Thanks again guys. keep up the good work. Jim
