And indeed many of the tiny houses in the tiny house blog do actually rely on wheels. So I would say a van/trailerhome/Yurt/Tent/Tipi are all valid examples of a tiny home movement.

Which would mean that the eco-yuppies have been predated by many many years. :lol3

There is still a certain stigma attach to being "the man living in the van down by the river!" :rofl

The tiny house movement doesn't make a lot of sense when you think that a tiny house costs almost as much to build as a normal small house since a lot of the costs are in the initial building fees, and a tiny house has everything a small house has except space, which is the cheapest part of a house to build, since it mostly consists of a few incremental square feet of flooring and roofing. :1drink

it could support lower operating and maintenance costs as well as (the owner's) unique perspective on life. it's all up to the individual

I hadn't thought about it but I've seen some REALLY nice houseboats over the years.

And some real eyesores too. :lol3 It's kinda like vintage RV's or do-it-yourself bus conversions, there is a wide range of what works and doesn't work.

Not to pick nits, but either this is a non-working mockup or he's standing on top of his generator, because you aren't going to run that A/C unit off of a 12 volt system.

"This family of three lives in a yurt high up on a mountain in a remote coastal Alaskan town. The McKittricks have a woodstove but the place is only accessible by boat or aircraft. They have broadband internet but no indoor plumbing."
