I'm looking at the link, it looks like there are holes drilled through the case anyway, the only advantage is the easy removal?

I don't have a picture that shows it from the side when it's closed, but a couple of pics show this utility-only box.




It's the bees knees for coldl weather rides with the amount of clothing I can shed as the temperatures rise. These pictures are summer and it's far larger than I need for that time of year.

As an aside, I have liners for the side cases, but right-sized stuff-sacks are far more convenient. The stuff-sacks wedge in there firmly enough that they stay put when opening the side-cases. The liners were OK, but I had to futz with them while closing the cases. The stuff sacks stay out of the way.

But back to top cases: FIRE AWAY!

Looking back through this thread makes me feel ashamed for having a top box on my old KLR.

My Vstrom/box combo looks a lot like yours, but both would probably fit under the bike's back end.

Settle down, I'm not the one who said the KLR was the wrong bike. I miss mine sometimes.

Here's my Givi E45N on the back of my T-Dub. I can fit my boots (14"), pants, jacket, and gloves in there with room for a sandwich. Or I can fit my helmet in there with room for beer.
