I think you should break the habit of a lifetime and join us Ken. I'm sure we could muster up enough kit between us so that you didn't have to sleep out around the fire (or bunk up with John).

If you don't come we are all gonna dangle pickles from the back of our bikes for the whole journey. I read somewhere that is sure to tempt you to follow (and I don't even know what the whole pickle thing is all about....except I'm guessing you must really like them).

    An XR600 would do it.

I'd always wondered about that. Very appropriate.

I'm not telling which Koplin Jr. is carrying the captain. I'll have you trying to buy gas off me all the time in hopes of me giving the wrong gas pack. Hee Hee:rofl:evil

Yeah, I may be in for a ride on Friday. I love that ride up the Klick. I know what you mean about getting the first scratch on the bike, already done! I didn't buy it so I can polish it in my garage! None of my bikes are for that. What time were you planning on leaving?

This is all the further we've "planned" so far....

If that's the case, mrmagoolin, it sounds like you could do a couple of days with us, at least, then head back to your obligations.

    Excellent !!
I'm glad to hear you've got the most fun part of the "break-in period" properly covered.

I think in general that the earlier we get started, the more territory we can cover.
But according to forecasts, Mother Nature might make the roads icy enough to want to leave a bit later.
So 8. Or maybe 9. Or maybe breakfast first, then 10. We'll see,
so far it's just you and me for this ride, so adjustments are easy.
You like riding in the cold rain, right?

Hi James, I think it is still a little loose and open for negotiation (or detail planning). It could start as early as the 23rd and run to as late as the 31st, nothing is set in stone, other than we are riding the OBDR this year and "last week(ish) in July" is when we are doing it. At some point we should break this out into a seperate thread and have a definitive 'IN' list.

Yes I have thought about that. I have ridden most of the Northern part of the OBCDR, just not in one ride. I really want to ride the Southern half. Seneca down to Goose lake. I have tracks of the original OBCDR that I have worked over. They are laid out by gas stops. The longest being 196 miles. I still am interested in riding even a few days.

I certainly don't care about any Thread Hijack BS one way or the other. So whatever, but....
Some of you may worry that starting it's own thread for your trip may lead to too many riders.

But the couple of week-long rides I've done were the Sound Rider Sasquatch rides with 40-60 people running the same course.
No one ever seemed to get in the way of each other, we just kept to the buddy system for safety,
in small groups of 2-3 that fit each other's style, and could look out for each other.
The rest of the groups were on their own, so nobody got really slowed down, waiting for slower riders.

After experiencing two of those big rides, I personally think any ride is managable with larger groups,
and the first group up front gets to pick that nights campspot by the trail, hopefully by a creek somewhere. If we get separated, oh well.
Each small group for themselves if need be, and we can easily plan the gas stops as the next day's lunch/meetup/regroup spots.

The more the merrier, in MY thought process :freaky
And a Thread Title may add riders that may not look here.
It's S1Marks and Asrvivors boat here, that I'm climbing aboard, so you do whatever suits your plans for a good ride.

I'll make sure I stop at the Carbonated Water Wells and the old factory by the River up the Klickitat River Rd, that I had learned about on one of your RRs, and explain them to whoever rides with me

    Oh, don't I know it !!

I was figuring that I'd have to add something else for fuel....
I gots me 160ish miles stock, off-road, give/take 20 miles depending on my mood that day.

I've got two options figured out, just not paid for yet.
