DL 1000 Engine, High Fender DR BIG 2012 Redesign

DL 650 engine would be enough, perhaps slightly strechted to 750 cc ...
But please with a look, that's closely related to my old SR 41 and a small number of them in Marlboro-Rallye-trim!!!

think that if they make something, it should be 1000. they dont have nothing new within this category, and all the other are there, big adventure bike (or a sort of adventure".....and DR BIG, (of course new design but the base inspiration should be old design), with a 1000 engine its not bad idea....

It's Suzuki. It'll never happen. Especially not with the DL1000 engine, which will probably be retired in the next year or two because it already can't meet emissions regs in Europe, and won't be able to in the US either soon enough.

Pretty sure it is.

The one over the wheel gets removed for competition use as well as a few other things being modified.

Anyway the DR BIG in 1998 weighed about the same as that new N700X Honda and made about the same power.

The Honda is considered an epic fail on this forum mainly because it is too gutless and weighs too much.

So what do you think the reaction would be to A NEW 210Kg Wet 800cc 55Hp Suzuki?

Same as it was years ago. It didn't sell that well over the almost 10 years it was offered.

As I said a while back, Suzuki's should just send the Chinese an example and get them to copy and make them for half the price of a DL650. Then they will sell.

The Chinese should have them out the door in a couple of weeks. They are bloody good at that.

but 210 kg with dl1000 engine, and around 100hp, will be just fine :)

A lot of people are shouting for cubes and horsepower.
I'll show you roads were you get in trouble to follow my 27 hp 400 cc Suzuki GN 400 ... and that's still on tarmac. For me, motor-cycling has something to do with narrow twisty roads. Those big monsters aren't built for that. I think, 750 cc and about 70 hp would be enough if the bike isn't too fat!

Bambi, I beg to disagree!
I used to have a drz400s and I remember an extremely twisty and pretty narrow uphill section of tarmac, just like the one you describe, where I struggled to follow my friend on his 990adv. We are of equal skill, I was not on knobbies and he had tkc's.
I now ride a 950SE and although offroad it can be a handful due to weight and height, when traction is guaranteed on the road, it feels more agile than the 100lbs lighter drz.
The moral of the story is that weight balance and centralisation as well as quality of suspension are more crucial than absolute weight itself. He was turning like if his bike was filled with helium.

Why not just add a few more dollars and make it 175Kg. Much better. They already have magnesium valve covers, surely a little more wouldn't hurt.
