I got pretty turned around after leaving the coast (about the time we passed the bikini 4-wheelers). Any chance of getting a route summary of some sort?

Will do Rick, we might put together one in the Fall we'll see, just keep an eye out here once the weather cools off.

Here are some more pics from our pre-run, it was a good mix of bikes and riders to test how things might go. The three relatively new guys (on totally different type bikes) all said it was fun, so that's a good start. :D

There is more pavement early on but most of it's nice.

Then once on dirt it stays that way for the most part and covers a pretty good cross section of surfaces.

David (Davet08) on the 690 had to entertain himself every once in a while cause we were basically in his way all day. :D

    Nice spot for a break.

    Some purdy stuff

then the fun started, you knew it was gonna happen sooner or later. :D

and a KLR was only going to hold off a 690 for just so long, but to it's credit did admirable, course the rider's not too shabby either (take your pick there).

Still a ways, but on the home stretch

There was a short section that was softish now but oughta be good when the time comes.

Course that means this should have more water in it...

..which is a good thing cause there was none left when Guns got through with it. :rofl

and only saw one harley all day

All in all a great day with some excellent riding companions, thanks guys, it was fun!

Great stuff, Bill. Glad to see you putting all those killer pics you're always taking to good use! :rofl

This will be a great ride in cooler weather. It goes through some really varied terrain that offers a good mix of all kinds of (our somewhat limited) conditions.

So there I was slipping and sliding, trying not to hit any trees, sand halfway up to my axle, reciting my new mantra; "stand on pegs, look ahead, don't fall, don't fall, don't fall," when I see Bill up ahead, zipping along snapping pictures...what can I say? :bow

    Great Pic's!

We had a good weekend at RDV. Unfortunately the weather did not corporate. We chose to bug out this afternoon in favor of a warm dry hotel. We had a good on road ride yesterday, and I had a short but nice off road ride this morning. Due to the rain, I was not able to keep my camera with me most of the time, but I got a few good shots.

There was 3 miles of switchbacks to get to the campground

It's official, some of our CADS will be helping Don at the dealership show riders some basic techniques on handling the big bikes off-road. He helped out with our Trans-Fla. ride so we're just returning the favor.

It's this Saturday startiing at 1PM, or 11:30-12:00 if you want lunch, they'll be grilling burgers and dogs I imagine.

There's a sizable grassy/dirt area on the side and I asked Don if we could get a couple logs and mounds of dirt for some practice. Next thing I know he's got a guy with a backhoe and Bobcat coming out this week for some serious excavations and maybe a waterhole (mudpit?) :lol3

It's open to anyone to come out but he is giving priority to his sales and service customers, understandable. Again, everyone welcome for lunch, the chalk talk, prize drawings, GS model reviews, etc. but depending on turnout may be limited as far as on-course instruction, we're thinking 35-ish but that could probably go up. If you're interested in getting on the list, email an RSVP to sales@BMWMCJAX.com

Rich, Dave (Day 13), Mike (Mr. Guns), Dave R (Slimy), and myself will be doing most of it but if you're interested in helping out, and we may need it, look me up at the meeting Wed. night.

We'll be at the dealership most of the afternoon so come on out, should be a lot of fun!

I encourage everyone to join us and help get the new GS riders into our "fun"

Here we are with some basic skill building drills :evil

Yes he was a little hesitant to join us at first, but we all worked together to coax him into riding with us :lol3

Yes, there are those that focus on off-road skills like "line " selection, we however, are more of the "wine" slection types. What did you expect?? I mean we like meet once a week to eat :D

    :freaky

And then there is our motto,

"there might be a little sand, but you'll be fine" :1drink

Such as proper get off technique? I may need a loaner KLR for that one. And a ditch. :D
