Great photos... especially my three Husky's just grazing in the paddock.:D

My first dirt ride on the 500 auto - what a weapon! Always in the right gear and roost flying out the back.
I also had a Drift camera on board for the first time, so when I work out how to load video I'll post it up.

great weekend - highly recommended to all for next year.

    A "stickler for correct details..." haha... good one C & B... :thumb:lol3

In my defense I did preface my statement withe the word "possibly" and a questionmark at the end of the sentence...
not having any idea that there was a firm in Victoria making replicas of them to this day...

You see I have seen one of the original Aberg/Hallman HL 500's as raced by Sten Lundin and Bengt Aberg back in the day; :deal

And I gotta give credit to GMC, that their "replica kit" is pretty damned true to the original... that I thought perhaps it was one.

Bengt Aberg is a legend within motocross in Sweden for his feats on these bikes; in the face of the 70's two stroke onslaught in the 500cc MX GP's...

Winner of the Luxembourg GP in 1977

One of the first of the HL500 factory bikes; :deal
    [IMG]
And the men behind the project (from left); Torsten Hallman,
Sten Lundin, Bengt Åberg and Staffan Enquist (the names behind Hallman Enquist)

So that's why I thought it might be an original...

But as far as the similarity to the RMX thread and stickler for details goes... :huh

Well, if I had said that my old XT 500 in the shed at home had the same suspension and motor as a HL 500...
then I suppose you would have a case...
Other than that... thanks for the heads up on GMC's replicas... they sure are a nice piece of kit! :clap

Troy, I figured you probably weren't aware of them, that's why I posted. GMC copied his frames from an original HL frame which is why it looks identical. A lot of YZ125's have been killed off just for their petrol tanks.
I had a TT500 back in the day, I remember when the HL500 was being raced, it was pretty exciting to see the transformation of what was considered an overweight play bike.

I think 'possibly' one of the most valuable bikes in this thread is that red twin port Jawa.

Don't get me started on "HL's"........

I was offered a genuine one in the early 90's cos the owner couldn't sell it. Being the genius I am, I declined........ :loco

That said, I did just buy back my original KX500 from 1984.
It's no HL, but at least it is mine.

That's 2 of my old bikes from 25 years ago, that I've been lucky enough to get back in the last 6 months. :D

Back to HL's, did all the genuine ones have the 3 valve head?

It should look good, that's a photo of it in 1984! :lol3
I did do some enduros on it back then, but it was a PITA as an enduro bike. I'm actually planning to have the Ossa ready for Harrow next year. More my style these days............ slow.......... :rolleyes

Re. the Harrow video, I didn't really think there was many blokes on here that would be into it. :dunno

The other bike I got back is here:http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=18519982&postcount=12857
