I just took it for a spin. It is the best money I have spent on this bike. It feels great. I would recommend this seat to everyone.
Looks good. Could we get a profile pic with a little more distance? Just in order to see the entire bike.
Going to gather firewood this month, so I experimented with attaching one of my handier woodcraft tools. It holds secure and I can lock the lanyard into the mount so it won't come out of the scabbard even if the buckles come undone. Plus it's quick and easy to get on and off and the only modifications were done to the scabbard, not the bike.
No issues with the cable lengths at full lock with the adapters ? I do like the look without the crossbar.
Just installed my new seat from Seat Concepts. I love it. I couldn't belive the difference when I took it for a spin today. Very good investment for this bike.
How tall are you Kevin? I had an SC seat for my Versys and had to sell it. It raised me back up and moved me too far back. Where the seat widens was also awkward. I have short legs though. Thanks for your input. I really want to try one again.
Some thoughts: - The motor is one of the best honda motors Ive ever owned/riden. I couldnt care less that its made in thailand after the beating it got today. It performed flawlessly, shifted smoothly and positively ever time, and had a lot of grunt. - I definitely need a smaller front sprocket. 2nd gear is way too tall stock I agree, Honda has really done their best on the MD38! Man, that thing is smooth as silk. This is my first EFI bike after riding dirt all my life. The crisp throttle response is a welcome change! Just turned 303km on my 250L. I use it every day and am loving it! Cheers! Glenn.
I'm using 5ooo rpm as the shift limit. Covered about 80 miles in the hills last weekend. My skidplate works well, still developing what I want the side protection to do. The Wolfman Explorer is a perfect fit, plenty of room, weight is centrally located and not in the way. I'm going to start on an aluminum luggage rack. Presently the bike is returning 70 mpg. I definitely will be making a carry bracket for a 1 gal. Rotopax container. Sometimes the fuel tanks take a very long time to be released. I hope this bike will be popular enough a mfg. does the right thing and makes a tank that gives at least 4, 4.5 gal, replacing the side panels entirely, and having it fit the bike closely, not leak at the fittings, not weep at the cap. Just once...getting a tank that adds .8 gal or something, the side panels have a big gap in them, so it can be sold @ $250, who needs that. I' ll pay twice that to get the real deal.
I'm a short dude and had exactly the same issues you describe with the SC seat on my 650GS. I'm sticking with the stock seat on the Honda though, it's pretty damn near perfect for me.
Roundtripping and Tony, Neither seats you guys purchased were LOW versions. We will probably never make a LOW version for either the 650GS nor the Versys. Yes we could make a low one if the lowness was all that we would be trying to achieve. But when you add the element of comfort to the equation, there is not a way to make a production seat for either of those 2 bikes that would be both short AND comfortable. while working within the parameters of the stock seat pan, subframe, etc. Now for the 250L it looks like there is enough seat there to work with to make a low version, so stay tuned. Hey Bundy - I actually didn't want the seat to be any lower The height is in fact perfect! But the wider seat ended up splitting my legs further apart and causing pressure points on the inside of my thighs. What would've been the perfect combination for me for the GS would have been your foam with the stock seat shape. Obviously there is absolutely nothing wrong with your seats (it's a quality product!), it's simply impossible to make one that fits 5'5 guys as well as 6'2 guys without customizing it. I think anyone with a 30"-35" inseam is gonna flat out benefit from a wider seat, but if your inseam is below that it might start getting a little iffy.
Why didn't you come by the shop, we could have worked on it for you? But yes it is very difficult to make one seat fit all! No worries, hope to make it up to you someday. Thread hijack over! Bundy
I understand this seat is the stock height, which is fine with me. I'm happy to give it another go. I know it's impossible to fit everyone. Your seat is on my list of stuff to do for this bike. I'll be getting a seat for my brother and his KLR250 for Christmas too.
Tony, Can you take a measurement from centerline of the mounting bolts left and right of the Pro Taper adapters? It appears they change the dimension from the stock triple clamps. Stock is 100 mm. Looking to fit a new top clamp if I go the 1-1/8" route.
