You have it half right... there business is selling fear to the masses, who then gladly turn over there money for a since of security
and when nothing bad happens they play it up to the world "look how good we are"

    fear is a great motivator....

Don' t forget he was also spotted topless on the road out of Jalcomulco!
He keeps his clothes on in restaurants and bars, however.

No worries, we can always take up a collection for him to buy a really well used and poorly maintained Soviet transport plane!
What? You say he wants to buy American?:deal
    Ok!
Let's get him a 737-200 from an African airline that has been having financial trouble!:clap

Or maybe some wings made of wax and feathers and call him Icarus Nieto.

Fascinating. I shouldn't be, but I continue to be amazed at the breadth of life experiences found among the ADV inmates.

I think 787 orders are: "Get in line!"

May not be ready in 6 years, esp. with the build issues they've been having.

I think Jomamma has some thread about a russian tanker in Marquette Mich(igan) that may be available. Maybe they could sign Trice up to fly the thing?

In regards to Bato's pic with his pants down along the highway, is that because the Federale's Charger is parked in front of the bike, and he is outside the picture, putting on his blue gloves? (Snap!)

I posted photos of a Mexicana 727 that is at a park south of Monterrey. Posted them here a few months ago as a matter of fact.

Offhand I have forgotten who made the batteries that have been exploding on the 787 but I remember thinking that it was someone that made batteries for motorcycles. So be scared ;)

Yuasa makes the batteries that are associated with the APU in the 787. I am not aware that they are exploding, but they certainly seem to have some improper wiring issues in that system. Yuasa is very big in the battery business.

Hey, I think I've heard about that program. Mexicans get them free, but Gringos have to pay.

My awesome BMW wrench, Hank Arriazola. He came to San Antonio from Dilley to pick up one other bike and my GSA, for a little preventative maintenance and some regular maintenance.

This man has a BMW with half a million miles on it. He's been to Ushuaia on that bike. Published a book of photos of Latin America. He's the real deal and the best BMW mechanic around.

    On the list:

    Farkle: Add nuclear horn system

Preventative maintenance: replace the fuel pump (fuel controller replaced preventatively last visit)

Regular maintenance: Change oil/final drive lubricants

    Regular maintenance: Valves

Regular maintenance: New set of Tourances

Before this week's trip, I had replaced the battery

Tires and battery and a spare key solve a lot of problems on Mexico trips. I've seen all three strand motociclistas there.

Asking around and talking to a lot of folks/reading etc., the other things that can bite you are belt, fuel pump controller, fuel pump, and ring antenna.

Can't prevent everything, but doing as much as you can before each trip helps modulate the risk factors and tilt them a little more in your favor.
