My 02 stock seat drove me crazy. I put a bead rider on it, and that helped.

Now on my 03 stock seat, I'm comfortable. Granted, I've only been on it for 2 hours max so far, but I have no problems with it yet. I was surprised.

At 5'8 and 160 lbs, I like the stock seat over the factory jell.

I'm 25 years old and 145lbs, so that might be it. You've got to refill the tank every 200mi anyway so walking around should help. I also sit all the way back at the widest part, resting against the pillion for some extra support. I probably just don't know what I'm missing with a good seat.

Me, 195lbs, stock seat was uncomfortable quickly. The OEM Gel is comfortable enough, and add a bit of legroom.

Danimal.... I mostly followed your advice.

    MUCH more sturdy. $10.

nearly there man. Don't quit now. Take those bitches back off, round the ends carefully and smooth them, then clean and paint black.

Well, here's my '02 650S in my current (and temporary) touring setup. I just started riding last season, and between June and December 15th (last ride for me for the season) I put 23k miles on her :)

I figure over the next couple months, I'll be fabricating some sort of rack system and hard bags. For a top box, has anyone tried a T-Box?

    Ed.

    EDIT:

So far the stock seat has done me well, (I'm 6'1", 235 lbs) and have done 3 consecutive 14 hour days for my longest ride. (3500 mile round trip).

Thanks! Here in Michigan we are having warmer temps but non stop rain. Par for the course the temps are to drop into the 20's creating an state wide ice rink :eek1

Hey Roxy! I know how you feel. When the front went through last night, I was sure it was gonna take out our 120 yr old oak trees they were bending so far with the wind.
Woke up today to below freezing temps, 40 mph winds and snow squalls. So from 61 degrees to 21 degrees in 24 hours.

Man Spring cannot come soon enough.!

I'm slowly doing things to the bike, to kind of scratch the winter motorcycle itch. But I could tinker with it all I want and nothing comes close to riding.

Got a new rear tire mounted yesterday, PR3, to finally match the PR3 on the front.
I also started putting SVRP 2.5in clip on's on it. Danimal, I know you had a GSXR front so your master cylinder is different, but did you have any problems with fitment of that on the clip on? Mine seems to hit the riser portion and doesn't want to rotate down very far, maybe I just need to play with it more. The brake switch plug is in the way too.

Not sure what you're asking Beet.
SV Racing's clipons are just clones (he bought their tooling when they went under) of SWATT clipons. I have the 3.5" SWATTs on my SV.
Are you referring to master cylinder clearance to the riser?

Lemme look a minute for a pic...

Yes, the clearance between the master cylinder and the riser block is causing problems. I posted over on SVR, hopefully someone that has done this with a stock master cylinder will chime in.

    Beet,

Kill two birds with one stone.

Replace the front brake lines with quality lines, and get a fitting for the MC with a 45 degree bend, which will give you the clearance you need (or cut off that tab)

Found a couple of pictures online from a trip I made late Summer last year to the area around Deal's Gap. I am sooo sick of Winter.
