I spent all of my summers through the 70's and early 80's working for a friend on his farm in Snowville. Some of the best memories of my life. Spent a lot of time and ate a lot of meals at Mollie's. Boated Lake Powel out of Hite Marina in the mid 90's, fished Strawberry Res. spent some time camping east of Heber City and lived in Santaquin area for a couple of years, was just in the Moab area a couple of weeks ago.
Thanks for the memories.:clap

Snowville (likely) hasn't changed much :lol3 - All the way out to Park Valley, etc is still only scattered clusters of ranches, and really thin cattle/turkey vultures and the odd snake. Folks out there still ship the older children into Tremonton for high school, living with host families during the week.

My 12 yo son caught a 23 inch trout out of Strawberry Res two weeks ago- it was tasty :nod . Santaquin :dunno , good apple farm adn that "One Man Band" diner is pretty good.

[IMG][/IMG]
A very swolen Colorado River last May

[IMG][/IMG]
Scooting along SR 128 north along the Colorado :clap

[IMG][/IMG]
A pic to show how all this Moab rock coolenss happens-
Water seeps through the upper layers (over 10's of years) until it hits a harder layer and works its way horizontally, eroding and undercutting (for those into "survival stuff"- the water is very clean to drink :nod

[IMG][/IMG]
More SR 128

[IMG][/IMG]
128 from one of the rafting tour pull outs

[IMG][/IMG]
Turning off 128 toward the La Sal Mtns into Castle Valley

[IMG][/IMG]
the "castles" above the valley

[IMG][/IMG]
Just southeast of Castle Valley

[IMG][/IMG]
The La Sal Mountains, southeast of Moab. Lots of snow still in May

Thanks again all for viewing and the comments :wave

Great to see many still tuning in and following along, a sincere thanks.

Going back north tonight, I present: Mount Timpanogos- home of Sundance ski resort, location of Redford's Jeremiah Johnson.

Fall colors make the northern washatch/uinta/cache forests special as the colors turn. These pics are from about 2 weeks ago, just as yellow and red were appearing.

[IMG][/IMG]
Mount Timpanogos, with Deer Creek Res in the forefront

[IMG][/IMG]
Starti

ng up SR 92 toward Sundance

[IMG][/IMG]
A cloudy summit on the back side of Timp

[IMG][/IMG]
Near Sundance on SR92

[IMG][/IMG]
Just passed Sundance, entering the Uinta NF and the twisty narrow stuff over the top

[IMG][/IMG]
Just before it gets tight, beautiful up high

[IMG][/IMG]
Now on/in the Alpine loop- narrow road with some switchbacks (20-25 posted speed :evil)

[IMG][/IMG]
SHort straight stretch, sun breaking through

[IMG][/IMG]
Apex of one of the switchbacks :clap (aspen clumps are everywhere)

Feel free to chime in.....Perhaps some Arches tomorrow, or :dunno

Hey Signal

I was just up there yesterday. Great weather and the fall colors were poppin.:D There are some cool single tracks that take off near the summit parking area. Just tight enough to make it interesting on the KLR

For this evening, a few out-takes:

[IMG]'[/IMG]
Got to ride with Pooey a couple years ago- Took him to the top of the LDS church office building (the tallest in downtown SLC)- a bit of glare from the glass, but ya'll are smart enough to get the idea :rolleyes

[IMG][/IMG]
Mormon Temple in Manti- self portrait off the saddle, only dropped the camera once :dunno

[IMG][/IMG]
Just for all you country music fans- both of you- here's the Big Rock Candy Mountain, on Hwy 89 south of Sevier/Richfield - a veery beautiful stretch of road along the Sevier River

[IMG][/IMG]
Heading up Big Cottonwood canyon

[IMG][/IMG]
Beautiful blue skies

[IMG][/IMG]
At the Spruces area, this some granite slide area behind

[IMG][/IMG]
Solitude Ski Resort

[IMG][/IMG]
Brighton Ski resort, end of the road (at least this part)

Hahaha yeah when I moved up here a few months ago (from Reno) I was stressing the "can't pump your own gas" bit. BUT, the truth of it is this... if you want to pump your own gas, they'll happily let you. Heck, most of them insist on it if you're on a motorcycle, because they don't want to get blamed for spilling gas on your bike.

Sometimes I do like it though... if I'm in a hurry, on a trip for example, and need gas and have to pee, I can cruise up to the pumps, stick my debit card in and out of the pump split, and say "fill it up with 92" (in the case of my car) and head inside to the bathroom. Come back and the car's all ready to go. They'll even wash your windshield for you.

THREE WEEKS :huh-- excellent

The only things I get to do for three weeks at a time are breathe, eat and sleep (perhaps work)

Watch your ass in the slot canyons starting Monday next week as the hot weather's supposed to turn wet and cold for a few days

For tonight, the rest of Wednesday's ride- Guardsman Pass from Big Cottonwoon Canyon over to Park City

[IMG][/IMG]
The Guardsman turn-off

[IMG][/IMG]
Looking west toward Brighton/Solitude as the road climbs

[IMG][/IMG]
Inbetween switchbacks, still pretty steep

[IMG][/IMG]
Just after the paved turns to gravel, you can see the road off the the left and in the distance

[IMG][/IMG]
A bit more gravel and washboard before the decent into Park City
The yellow aspens were brilliant

For this evening, a trip through some of my favorite southern UTah haunts...
Long family roots in Aurora, a small town between Salina and Richfield--

[IMG][/IMG]
My great grandfather's home, in Aurora

[IMG][/IMG]
Hwy 24 below Fish Lake Res/Natl Forest

[IMG][/IMG]
Black Canyon, south of Antimony

[IMG][/IMG]
An old grainery tucked in down by the stream out of the wind. Really love this pic.

[IMG][/IMG]
John's valley road, comming down out of the pines.
The Looooooooonng straight before the hwy 12/Bryce canyon intersection--you can just see the pines above bryce in the upper middle left

[IMG][/IMG]
Leads me to the rim, checking in with the HooDoos. THe very nice Ranger Lady got grumpy with me for this one :dunno

I'd imagine many of our interests and routes are common (collective as well as individual)...
.Interesting what catches our eyes. They grainery in Black canyon, for example. Beautiful building in fairly good shape, way off the path (of at least the interstate), oddly though realtively few farms surrounding it- I was surprised at the size. Perhaps too many farms now gone :bluduh
