I had the rear shock out which included taking the flap pipe out. It was hanging by the cables. It does a full open and full close when the key is turned on. Its open about 2/3 just idling. 'Blip the throttle and it opens some for an instant. Think of it as varying the size of the exhaust for the conditions.

    The exhaust sound was sweet

I've got an '03 R1150R that I really like a lot. I've ridden it through Mexico three trips, out to Big Bend, Santa Fe, and just did a trip down to key west. Its a great bike and I just can't see any reason to replace it.

Walked away from it. The bike had zero options on it. No center stand or heated grips which is a deal killer for me especially at that price. Also had no abs or trip computer.

Then I made the mistake of stopping by the Honda Kawasaki place. Really considering a Versys or nC700x now :/

My "other bike" is a Versys. R1200R is a bigger version. Still have not decided to keep the V or not. Its a hoot to ride and
my commuter to work. I bought it because the RT is too big to ride to work or run to the store.

Then I bought the R. Love the R, the Versys has a soul.

The R rides far better, the V is sprung stiffer and has some nice suspension.

Another reason I bought the V is sitting in traffic on the RT she gets hot. The V is water cooled and has a fan, The
R does not heat up like my RT did.

Passenger says the seat on the R is 10X better.

The V likes to rev. the R doesn't care what gear its in it just goes!

The V gets about 5 more mpg and burns regular.

Both are the balls in the corners.

Nice to see some 11s! :linzi

What's the skinny on color coding and chrome? Was that an option package? Certain years?

My bike as seen above has black surrounds for the oil coolers, black frame, mirrors, bar ends, grab handle, etc.

Thanks, almost 100K miles on the old hag.

Been eyeballing this one for a while, They have it on CL for $2700 or make an offer. I am 6"3" and am not sure if I will fit it. 68K miles.
Or I may sell a bike or two and find an '11 or '12.
