I haven't done either of these..... When it was warm outside, I didn't need to, but now that Winter has arrived, it's now very hard to start. I've read the thread about the 3 turn so I plan on doing it soon. I'll try the petcock trick also just to see if it works.

Not trying to tell you what to do...but, I recommend trying the petcock deal first. It has worked for countless people..not just on XTs. Consider the 3-turn deal more of an enhancement. I've done both on 08 and 09 XT250s. At my altitude, the 3-turn deal is not required but IS better. The petcock deal is a must.

Yeah, I'm not far from sea level either so I'll give the petcock trick a shot first since it is the easiest.

I'm thinking of buying Gerbings G3 Heated gloves that are listed at 2.2 amps and 27 watts. Does anyone know if the XT250 will handle the load? Thanks for any info.

Gave this trick a shot this afternoon and it worked beautifully! When I first started it, it took a good 30 seconds to start it. Turned off the petcock and ran it out of gas, which only took about 20 seconds and then let it sit. Came back about 4 hours later and turned on the petcock and it started in like three seconds. Perfect!

    Hi Neil,

I use heated grips that run at 3amps, without a problem.

    Regards

As long as you have the accelerator cranked up (as in riding), and don't let the gloves draw from the battery during much idling.

I have heated gloves, also. But they are also a pain to put on - so I rarely use them.

I have a Moose Racing tail rack for a XT250 up for grabs. Another inmate sent it to me forever ago and only asked that I make a donation to ADV in exchange for it. I did and I'll pass the same offer along to anyone wanting it. I don't know if they are year-specific or if they'll fit any XT250, I never put it on mine instead opting for a different system. I don't remember what it was to ship, but if it's not exorbitant I'll cover the shipping.

If no one on here wants it I'll post it over in the Flea Market in a few days.

Let me know what it would cost to ship to 78852 zip and I will gladly pay the shipping.

    Thank you,

    Not a problem.

I was thinking more of the luggage rack - as I already have a tail rack.

    But, thanks!

Hey folks and thanks for the interest in the tail rack. It's been snagged and should be on it's way out soon.
