Gosh, a 58 Corvette has a plastic sort of body, and if it's fuel injected, it's worth a bundle. Collectible is all tied up in desirability and scarcity and fantasy. You can't make any good judgments about collectible in the first years, except in very rare cases. And, while I think 80's styling is really ugly, 40 year old people remember it fondly from their childhood and might actually want to own a mid 80's scooter. If I like the machine, then I like it. If you don't, but I do, well, that's sort of the baseline of owning a scooter anyway.
This was a very surprising trip. I put a bigger screen on it as soon as I picked it up in Tucson and tucked in behind that slab of plastic for a 75mph freeway rip back to Tempe. Couldn't do 80 but 75 was easy and that little engine didn't seem to care where in the rev range you were with one exception... it doesn't hold much fuel and I had not even given that a thought. At freeway speeds she gets fairly thirsty and when I glanced at the gauge and noticed what had happened I about choked on my tongue swearing in my helmet. There happened to be a lonely fuel station not far off the freeway in what looked like the middle of nowhere to me so there was no pushing involved. I do like the little scooter though and am happy I bought it. I see what some of you've been going on about now. Definitely an in town sort of thing or at least better suited to somebody that's a little on the relaxed side. Dipping behind the screen to overcome drag was not the way time was supposed to pass on this little batman-esque missile. Impressive brakes, too. Not even related to the wooden jobs I recall as a kid. Medic & Hacksaw... thanks for checking the fasteners
My wife and I have toured on scooters. 2 trips have been to Las Vegas from our home 60 miles north of Seattle. Our scooters were SYM RV250's, carbureted scooters, fuel injection would have been nice. I think your Morphous would do fine on a road trip north. We have rode highway 101 and 395 extensively on our trips and would be a good roads north. We did run interstate from Barstow to Vegas and 99 from Bakersfield to Sacremento and no problems with traffic, cruising at 60-70mph.
If you find yourself on the road getting disgusted with this thing drop me a private message; I might just take it off of your hands, LaDue
yay for a two year old thread resurrection.. :) I got excited seeing a Morphous thread here. Seems like there's barely any Morphous chatter online anymore. But I sure love my Morph.
Cool beans! Where did you move? We just got home from helping kids pack to move to the Ackworth area. Other son lives in Canton. My Morph is waiting for a new tire. Hope we can meet up.
I bought a Morphous a few months ago and sold it not long ago. Nice scooters. EFI was nice. Didnt know that only 1500 were sold in the US. Maybe i should have sold it for more... lol. I hear they like to mod them like crazy in Japan.
Anyone have their fuel gauge go bad and read too high? Mine went wonky after winter storage last year - had it apart three times and can't get it to drop below 3/4 full. I have to use the odometer to guess my range; I figure 150 miles per tank.
I loved mine. I never had a quieter, smoother ride. I put on a couple thousand miles in two weeks. Then it killed me. I was going about 40 mph when a deer appeared 12 inches in front of my face. I awoke in agony 3 and 1/2 days later in an intensive care unit. If it hadn't been for the intraveinous morphine it would have been no fun at all. The Sheriff said I was dead when he got there but the EMTs took that as a challenge. I was airlifted to the best trauma center on the west coast.
The one on mine worked good and it had 19k miles on it. Pull it out and leave it hooked up and let it drop all the way down to empty and verify the fuel gauge drops down. If it does then the issue is the arm is hanging up in the tank and may need a little tweak to get it so it doesnt hang up.
I thought it may be hanging up as it is a tight fit to get it all fit back in the access hole. Not a good idea to turn the key on while the assembly is out as I don't think it is good to run the pump without fuel, even briefly, is it? So I am not sure how to properly test the system - the manual does not address this.
It wont hurt it to run briefly with no fuel but better if you can not run it at all to keep the mess to a minimum. See if you can pull the fuel pump fuse and the fuel gauge should still work without the fuel pump being powered.
I'd have to say my fuel gauge has some odd characteristics of its own. Out of the 6 bars; Once the first top bar disappears I've used 100km. Once the following two dissapears so I'm at halfway I'm at 200km. The last 3 bars get me from 200km to about 260km or so until the fuel sign starts flashing.. Definitely not equal increments, but maybe that's normal.. I just thought it was a bit odd. Sent from my XT1097 using Tapatalk
Finally tucked away the Morph for hibernation. Pretty glad I've been able to have it out so long this year. Hopefully I'll only be without it until March or so. It's been a pretty mild winter so far. Put just a hair under 10,000km on the Morph this year. Excited to do it again next year. Sent from my XT1097 using Tapatalk
I have a 2008 Yamaha Morphous with custom paint (Mopar Orange), 9,200 miles, runs great. Thinking about selling, if anyone has any interest $1,850.00 will buy it before the weather warms up. Located in Nashville, TN. Thanks
