I lived in Bowie, MD for 3 years in the 90s. I took quite a few rides out to WV & VA while I lived there. Although I thought the roads where great, I prefered the roads further south so that's where I went on longer trips. But, that was back before my dual sport days. Back then I preferred the easier roads like Deals Gap because it was easy to go fast and feel like a hero on them. Since then my tastes have changed some and I prefer the more challenging roads where average speeds are lower. I suspect I would like the roads of your area more now than I did back then. Some day I'll make it back up there but the problem is: So many roads, so little time.
Oh, BTW Riff. I found some new roads yesterday. The best routes are going to require a dirty bike tho. Got one yet?
AdvWolf said he is not giving his up yet! Go figure! Need to talk to my bro-in-law he is a wrench-er for "Romney Cycle" surely he can score me a ride somewhere. Just have to convince the wife it a necessary budget item! :eek1
I've been following several of the NC threads and it all looks good from the coast to the mountains. Like you I just need the TIME and money. You know you are always welcome back to God's country the gates are open 24 - 7 - 365. No my hero days are better defined as the quality of the ride as well. I like measured speed and control a lot better these days. My tag line refers to being closer to the end of the story than the beginning and I want to see it all before the book is closed. My native American ancestry helps me to fool a lot of people about my true age [I like being underestimated]. My bike is often looked at as a sport bike, but it is a {Big} Naked Sport Touring bike, the Naked Version of what is now the K1300S. I think WVHillbilly is very serious about helping me get a dual sport, and believe you me I'd take one in a heart beat, but until then .... I am hoping some time in the near future to come down that way when I do I'll let you know.
I don't know what they are worth, seemed a little steep to me. I could be wrong tho, it's been known to happen. Of course you can't tell how nice it is, since there are no pictures :huh
Just IM'd U a msg ! this last one too much, but the first one has me thinking I can go back to the bank and renegotiate another loan! wHAT tHE hECK AM i DOING! ..... I Must RESIST! Right? ! I almost pulled the trigger!
One of the Kids maybe! The problem is I think I can go back to my bank and they would do it in a heartbeat! I'd have to go to my boss to convince my wife not to KILL ME ! Paul said it best " to live is Christ to die is gain" so either way I look at this it is a win win situation.
Some pictures I took when on a drive with my family this weekend. No bike pictures as we were in the truck, but some good photos I think. Dude! We gotta do this on the bikes! .... Yeah Yeah I know ... but it will be even cooler on the bikes! Oh yeah btw you do take good pics when you take the time to take some!
So can I come! I read the last couple of captions "Scanned" and saw the pictures. So we are going to a house full of Swiss Daughters! Riff you can watch the bikes -
