Looking forward to your blog. Wife and I are planning on doing the Yukon/Alaska this summer as well. Not sure what we'll take; the Vstrom or the brand new Yamal.

Take the Yamal. This trip is taylor-made for Urals. I see you're already in NE Alberta so I'd definitely go sidecar.

co_g30, if you decide to go through Spokane rather than Seattle (I-5 ugh!) I have a well equipped shop, spare bedroom, BBQ and beer. :D

Should be a great trip. Let me know if you are interested in alternative - more twisties, less interstate - routes through Oregon and Washington.

Sounds good, but you're welcome anytime.

BTW, it seems like mid April might be a little early for heading north ... ? A friend in Anchorage says they got about 15" of snow a few days ago. Heated clothing?

Well, as I am moving at URAL speed, I don't expect to reach Fairbanks till late April so it should be fine. Yes, I have a heated vest and grips. Have ridden in -14F with no issues.

On the way back I would suggest hitting the Top of the World Highway from Tok, AK to Dawson City, YT. It was a blast. Do watch the weather. A friend went up there early in the year and got rained on for 13 of 16 days he was up there.

You'll love it up there. I did when I went.
