I had those racks and now have the Happy Trails SU racks with Pelis, and I'm 99% sure they won't (at least won't mount well) to the other racks.

Digging the rallye look. Noticed you have the oversize front rotor upgrade. How do you like it?

Gotta ask how that windshield holds up to highway speeds? Do you have it braced anyway? Did you mount the action packer through the bottom also?

    Looks good!!

I bought a pair of Wolfman Summit saddle bags in the classifieds here without doing much research on them. Now that I've got them, I'm a little concerned that I won't be able to make them fit. :cry The attachments are supposed to go to the pegs (straps not long enough) and there is a buckle/strap that connects across the back that is also a bit short. Has anyone successfully used these on a KLR that can tell me how to install them?

Not good. I have lowered it 3" from that. I am going to have to brace it. I think I will try a stock windshield. The packer is mounted through the bottom with fender washers.

I had a pair of the older Summits on my KLR.
[IMG] I did need to do a little modifying straps and use an aftermarket heat shield on the muffler. After that trip I decided it would be best to have some additional support for them if I was going to grossly overload them like I did on that trip, so made a lightweight rack that the bags fastened to.

This was much better and more supportive.

I wonder if the HT soft luggage racks would help? I can't really see what you did in that pic.

Sorry, this is the rack I made with 3/8" rod. After this pic I added a loop around the rear fender to attach the two sides together....but it was really unnecessary for the soft bags as it was sturdy enough as it sits in this picture.

Oooh, I like that. And I'm sure I could make a pair of those for less than $100. :evil Where did you find the rod?

If you have access to a welder, it's about a $25 job. I just picked up the rod at a local retail store. You should be able to buy it at just about any hardware or autoparts place.

Hey, I'll pay for a set if you make 'em!

And as an "added" bonus, I'll come and pick 'em up! I grew up in E-town, Park St. back when AMP was still there! I know my way around!

What do ya say? I have a trip comming up, and wanna get the new Wolfman Paniers, but don't have cash for the bags AND the mounts!!!

    Oh, and I can't weld for do-do.....
