From http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=524638&page=45 That would be a 2009 XCountry with XChallenge bodywork. Lots of G650X-pr0n on that thread!
layed my bike down on the street this evening! she's been down in the dirt before, but this is the first time it went scrapy on the street. no real damage, just my ego and the right sided engine case is scratched up. i feel like an idiot!
I've wrecked a few times on the pavement. At first, I felt like an idiot too. But after a while, I didn't feel like an idiot, I KNEW I was an idiot! Sorry for your misfortune. Enjoyed those powerline pics. Reminded me of my 20 years in Mt. Airy.
AS many others have suggested, I am double checking the torque and Loctite, and of course replacing the buggers that fell out along the way....Good QC and assembly on my machine
Check the bottom bolts on both side cases. Mine were all good from new but in the first 2000 klm the bottoms ones all needed to be retensioned once. Every now and then just check them again.
I put it down to the motor vibe, there are some bolts on these bikes that over time make their way loose, the bottom side case bolts, the rear mudguard bolts under the back wing etc.
so is there anyone who is interested in buying some hard parts if i were to get a batch of them made? just trying to get a rough estimate so i can get a quote from the local water jet cutter guys. sorry for the cross post between here and the x-challenge thread!
got my handguards, modified the stock x-country bar end plugs. they need to be tapped out to an m8 from the stock m6. these guards are freakin sweet!!! drill out the endplug start the tap in the lathe to make sure it starts true, moved to the vise to for the rest of the tapping. all bolted up
You may now resume crashing. (All in good fun. My most stupid crash--they're all stupid in hindsight--was in a McDonald's parking lot at dusk. Rode the ridge between the asphalt parking lot and the dumpster's concrete pad until ...)
actually i crashed just after i got them installed, and scuffed up the plastic guard. they already did their job!!
They are awesome!! I have them on my bike as well....MY BIKE IS FOR SALE NOW. PLEASE CHECK THE FOR SALE SECTION HERE : http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=686654
I spent some time this weekend getting my XCountry dirty, then giving it a swamp water shower <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JbwTpagCqm8" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" width="560"></iframe> Gateway BMW had their GS Challenge this weekend. No other XCountry's in attendance, but It was still a lot of fun. The Kenda Big Block's that I installed a couple of weeks ago worked great and XChallenge air shock that I installed at the same time (finally, it's been collecting dust since last fall..) worked way better than the sachs ever thought about. My sleep number seems to be 150psi. A photo of me on the bike, sleep number 150psi, doesn't look to bad considering. Photo courtesy of Marilyn R. GAW
Thought I would share a pick of my XCountry....... Currently has: HB Xplorer boxes CeeBaileys Windshield.
Hi, my wife has a 2009 XC with a few mods. 1) Lowered suspension Wilbers front and rear, 2 inches lower than the stock low 2) Staintunes exhaust 3) Wunderlich windshield soon to be a Cee Baileys 4) Touratech hand guards 5) Wunderlich engine bars 6) Trail Tech tach/clock (to be installed) 7) Oxford heated grips ( to be installed) Now for my question. I am installing a aux relay to power a few elecrical mods. Where is the easiest place to hook into the ignition switched power to trigger the relay? The circuit will be fused to the battery to power the accessories. I have found the connector for the charcoal canister but am nervous about using it for the signal as I do not know what powers it (ECM?). I have the factory manual DVD but no electrical diagrams are included. I have also searched this site, the refrence thread and google but no luck. Thanks for any help.
