A quick weight check, a pair of size 8s is just under 5 lbs for the pair. For comparison, Balance Pro Techs in same size are 5.04 lbs on our scale. Difference is likely caused by the fact that plastic is lighter than full grain leather. FWIW, SG10s, Crossfires, etc would be 9+ lbs. BP
I really like the look of this boot, but the toe box looks really thick (or is it tall?), which makes me wonder if its going to be a bitch trying to get your foot under the shifter easily. Also wondering about the "feel" when operating the shifter/rear brake? Can you tell us how the boot is performing in these instances? I just ordered the A-star Scout Boot, so I would like to hear from anyone who has had both of these boots as well!
That photo is of a SIZE 41....the proportions look stubby because it is a smaller size. They are not any thicker than normal. BP
I'm a road rider looking for winter boots. (I wear the Dainese Torque Out boots in the warmer months, and i really like the protective features of that boot. Plus they're fairly light, easy on-off, not ricky racer and fairly easy to walk in). I've been looking at a whole range of different boots, and most of the road boots are pretty lame in the protection department, unless they're full on sport rider boots. Would you suggest these G-Midlands or one of the other boots you currently stock for a good protective winter boot. Some of the criteria that matter to me - waterproof, very good protective features while still being reasonably comfortable to walk in, prefer to not have to relocate the shifter, reasonable weight. Brian
is it friday? looks to be a little more moto then the G-Adv and still cheaper then the sidi offerings.
I received them, and actually ended up selling them...first pair sold in the US goes to an inmate!! They remind me of a higher-quality Alpinestars Scout. Similar in weight, feel, flex, but better fitting (I like the Scout but it is not on the same level fit-wise as EU made boots). Low 2lb range for the size 8. I still like the Balance, but the Midland has more ankle support, and many people are asking for that. It looks to be a very solid ADV Boot. BP
As a Balance Oiled owner, I kind of wish I had waited. The Balance Oiled's are an amazingly comfortable, easy-to-wear boot, but I like the idea of just a little more foot protection. But then again, hindsight prevails in this evaluation, obviously.
What, in your opinion, has the better protection, the Sidi adv, or the new Midland? Are they in the same class? Thanks
These boots look sick! I'm still kind of new to the ADV scene, lol, im wearing my Army boots. any idea on how tall the toe box is? i have some of my cold weasther boots that look about the same height in the TB just wondering thanks, Thom
Hi G-Goat. The Sidi Adventure has more protection, by virtue of having more plastic. They are more similar to the Sidi Discovery. FWIW I am a fan of Sidi but not a fan of the Adventures. I definitely feel they are in the same league. In general, I feel these two brands make the best boots in the world. IMO Gaerne is the best FITTING boot in the world. Hope that helps. BP
Hi Thom. In the pics they look tall, but that is somewhat because they are a size 8 and the proportions are misleading. I do not feel they will have any issues with toebox height, but I cannot give you a comparative pic until they arrive. Hope that helps. BP
Sweet. I was about to drop funds on Sidi Adv boot, but I can wait. BP, I joined Atomic's mailing list and subscribed here. That enough to keep me in-the-know on availability? EDIT... Nevermind. Found them at the site. I really need to pay attention.
Are they really waterproof? I've yet to find a waterproof boot that stays waterproof more than one rain storm.
Am looking for some new boots w/ features like protection, waterproof and flex, And price. currently looking at Forma Adventure and AS Scout. But, These look very interesting, w/ good mix of features. Where can I try them on? Subscribed.
