Damn- the ghettocross sounds like fun. Too bad I just sold my NX. :cry

I'll meet you there and see if my Strom is really a dual-sport.

Ohh crap, I should have looked back here sooner. I didn't realize ghetto-cross would raise so much interest.

Ummm, since I just woke up and it is later on Sat night, how about this. Next Sunday morning, April 5th, meet for breakfast at the Golden Nugget at the corner of Pulaski and Diversey. From there we can hit Logan Square, Humboldt Park, and Garfield Park, where ghetto-cross resides.

    Time requests?

Dang, I'd love to ghetto-cross it up, but my first trials event is that same day in Wapello, IA.

I am I a bad person in that I haven't been out on a bike yet? I did change the oil and rewire the taillights on my Triumph before selling it, and I did ride it back to the city. That counts right?

Not having on site storage sucks. So does this weather.

Any of you guys recommend a lift for a Harley (touring model = heavy)? I was thinking of going the Craftsman route, but I'd like something not made in China. I want to get the wheels off the ground to change the tires and do the forks and it looks like my motorcycle stands aren't going to cut it.

    Thanks.

I have a jack and stand from Harbor Freight that do the job well for my Suzuki Boulevard. Not as heavy as a HD tourer. I think the jack is rated at 1000lbs maybe 1500, the stand is 1500 I believe.

you also missed camping with tornado's around, and riding 600 miles through that storm yesterday... :huh

we did catch some nice fish though and ride some nice roads and a few trails...
    It was awesome! :clap

I gotta say that Andrew (aka bartender) has got some big, brass balls riding that NX650 600 mile days twice, and with 40mph winds in the rain and snow... I'll ride with him anytime!:freaky

Yeah, that was a hell of a trip, short as it was. Nothing like covering 600+ miles in some of the shittiest weather possible. Oh, and if you ever lose your balaclava, just swing by a Walmart, buy a pair of sweatpants, cut the leg off and pull it over your face and neck!

Here's a little of what you guys missed.

Absolutley true... I forgot to mention that.

Being new to this or any forum I guess I felt a little strange soliciting on the internet. Not that there is anything wrong with that... I am showing my age....

I do enjoy riding and social situations with others, but have always found or started friendships or riding friends in person. I hope no offense was taken, by my comment, as this type of meeting folks seems to be an efficient way to enhance the life experience.

I live in Bucktown and ride on Fridays and Sundays, anyone that would like to meet up and go just let me know. I would like to join in with some of you all as well. I ride a street bike now so I would be limited compared to most in this group. I do plan on getting dual sport soon though..

Judging from the responses I think this kind of riding is too much for most of these guys, they'd rather stand around their sparkly clean bikes on a sunny day and talk about accessories...
I thought this was The Adventure Rider site... :csm

Glad to ride with ya' Andrew!
