Can't tell you exactly but I left Galena Labor day morning and told GPS to take me the shortest route to Evansville, IN. Ended up on this road. Awesome fun! Can't guarantee it is exactly on this route but fairly close to Galena.
meet Ursus Purpeous; 1995 1500SE AKA Mythbuster.....Bought it with 71k miles and at 74k the 4th gear selector went out. Thus busting the INDESTUCTABLE Goldwing myth. Found an engine with 4k on it and swapped it out.
I have an 85 that slips out of 4th. I want to pull the motor and swap it with another tranny when I get some time.
I don't know about the 85, but in the 95 you have to remove the engine and split it to get to the transmission. If you can find a low mileage engine you'll be way ahead in the frustration deptartment.
Yeah, its a split case job. I want to do it. I plan on having this bike for a while, and I turn my own wrenches always.
Bought this baby in KS last summer, spur of the moment buy and as much as I love it, it's not the best bike for me. Since then I've ridden it very little, current mileage somewhere over 4000. Recently picked up an NT700v which really fits me to a T, just as comfortable as the wing and not much more than half the weight. Time for the wing to fly away. Best place to list it? Price will be $18k+, no farkles but 20 months left on prepaid maintenance agreement. LL75
I'd have liked to post this pic along with the wing but the message said I'd reached the max for that post. One of these days I'll figure out what I'm doing wrong but in the mean time here's what I'm happier with and the reason the wing's going away. It's a helluva bike, I love it. LL75
Love how everybody points out the fact your bike is "ABS" or "NON-ABS". I drive a GMC ABS TRUCK. Who cares if your bike is "ABS" or it isn't? It's to a point that ABS is used in the actual name of the bike. DR650ABS????? Don't see many BUICK POWER WINDOWS out there. It's an option, or a feature. Oh, the GoldWings? All beautiful bikes. I'm just not old enough to ride one. At 61, I still like the bugs in my teeth and the vibrations! Enjoy. Ride safe, all. Lyle
On the 1800's the model is designated as an ABS, or Comfort, or NAV model. These different model designations can tell you more about what is included in the model. It's like the difference between a GMC Sierra and the Denali. You don't have to be old to ride a wing, just smart :) The reason you see a lot of older folks ridding wings is because they wised up to the fact that you can go a lot farther on a comfortable bike. Course it also helps to be retired so you have more time to go farther.
ABS is still new enough to matter when selecting a bike, so saying that you have it is just as important as if you have navigation or XM. I'm 25, and I ride a goldwing. You can call it an old mans bike, but I think they are amazing machines.
Yep. I was using "Goldwing GeekSpeak" to say it was a "base" model. If I ever sell this one, it would be to upgrade to an ABS or higher model. (BTW; went back & edited my post. It's a 2002, not 2003 as originally posted. Musta' hadda' "Old Goldwing Rider" Senior Moment! ) Otis
Well now Lyle I'm trying to figure out exactly what your point is but it seems to escape me. You ride safe now too, hear? LL75
Did 12,000 miles this summer doing the 4 corners in the X route on this 07 Navi ABS then an Ironbutt 1500 a few weeks later. Love the bike but I wish my son on a 2010 ST1300 ABS would have traded off with me a little Don't know how to embed the photos so must attach. eatsleepride woodwork
I imagine that the two front calipers run off the lever and the rear runs off the pedal. I'm sure some T's and some plugs were necessary.
