Fuel taxes don't come close to paying the cost of roads. Your google-fu must be weak today since there are dozens of studies that say essentially the same.

:lol3 You're taking this too seriously.

Next thing we know, you'll want to ban electic cars since they don't pay fuel taxes.

    Opps... I did it again.

That argument is lame...How many cyclists do you know who don't own a cage of some sort?

Besides here in Virginia our unlustrious Governor just did away with the fuel tax and increased the sales tax. Now people who don't even own a cage or even a bicycle, pay road taxes.
So using your argument, pedestrians should now be able to walk in the travel lanes here. Kids should be able to ride their skateboards and razor scooters in the travel lanes here...:lol3

Forgot that one. Our Dumbass Govna also wants hybrid vehicles to pay an extra $100 a year in registration fees because they get good fuel mileage...thieving fooker!

Think of it as tax equalization. You're not using as much gas and aren't paying your share of the road tax. I'm waiting to see how they tax pure electric vehicles. Maybe they'll have to get odometer inspections when they get their yearly tags. :deal

I'm heading up to SW Va for the Mountains of Misery. I aborted last years double metric attempt at 86 miles, 11k' of climbing due to a knee injury. I'm signed up for "just" the Century this year. Looks like a great time!

The bicycle lane/non thru traffic portion of the road that is. Scoot to the 2:35 mark. I hope they got the tag number off the video and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. :deal

    Apparantly, the driver was arrested.

Oakland police found the vehicle Friday morning and alerted the Berkeley Police Department. Berkeley police examined the vehicle and a further investigation led them to Jack London Inn, located at 444 Embarcadero West, in Oakland, as a possible home for Medaglia.

Officers contacted him late Friday afternoon at the inn. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of heroin, felon in possession of ammunition, violation of probation and felony hit-and-run.

The riders, both of whom were wearing helmets, had abrasions from hitting the road but did not require hospitalization, according to Greenwood.

The lady in the silver Subaru was a no-show on the road today.

No overt assholism, cause for the most part, we were out far enough (and riding against what little traffic there was) to avoid most people.

Got a few waves and a few honks (good honks) too. :thumb
