Between the ages of 8 and 14 (when I discovered rugby), Association (soccer) football was my sport. My early memories of the game as I watched in black & white on the television include the 1967 FA Cup final which led me to become a Chelsea fan and the greats of the day like Best, Charlton, Blanchflower, McKay, Greaves etc. but my earliest ever memory was watching the "Black Panther", Eusébio da Silva Ferreira playing for Portugal in the 1966 World Cup.

He was no showman like Pele but what a player he was. Rest in peace Eusébio. You were a credit to yourself, your sport and your nation (of birth and naturalisation).

Indeed. One of the greatest. Humble and generous man. Portugal is crying his death.
    RIP Eusébio.
