Mike Mike thanks for the PDF file for Veracruz riding. We are at the top end and will be leaving El Tajin area in a day or 2 or 3. We will not be able to knock out the whole route in a few days. Any suggestions for hotels along the route? We may take 3 days to go from Papalanta to Tehaucan.
Hekto, you' ll find accomodations in Perote, Ciudad Serdan, Ciudad Mendoza, Orizaba, and Cordoba, other than that, you' ll be camping. I am going to head to the Serdan altiplano tomorrow and get some pics of the crater lakes. Leaving before dawn, I hope I can get some sweet natural candy color effect morning light. Bato, that trip was organized through the local BMW club, too rich for my blood, they are paying out 40,000 to 50,000 pesos a pop, trucking the bikes to the border. I am not much of a club guy down here, though I was in Canada, they ran things different up there, it wasn' t about restaurant riding and trucking bikes. But hey, whatever floats the boat, my opinions never matter very much anyways LOL! Are you joining them?
Nope, thanks anyway. The RT and my Tiger are both fated to be trailer queens tomorrow. I have a write up of the whole ugly affair but it can wait another day until the bikes are back home, mine here in Banámichi and Curt's in Bisbee. Yes, my bike crapped out as well. I guess I should not have said all those very witty things about BMWs. Since I maintain Mrs. TC's F650GS I though I could get away with it. Karma is a bitch.
Hey DC, Bob changed his mind and took the other horse. Have a safe trip south, be sure to hook up with the Guaterider, you' ll have fun. Keep posting the vids, how did that bag come off the bike in that video?
Basically, user error, I think. Full story here. http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=5583.msg117251#msg117251 Yeah looking forward to meeting him. In Tikal tomorrow, if it stops raining... it's pissing down now. Every time I've tried to visit ruinas on this trip it's been a tropical downpour. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!
Bato, I think the club guys are heading over there during Carnaval, probably around Feb. 9. Keep an eye out for Bob Loblaw, you' ll enjoy riding with him.
Ok. We were hoping to take 2 easy days to ride to Perote. We wiill bump it up a notch and get an earlier start. Looking forward to your photos. Here's on near Fray Francisco - San Jerome backroad from Actopan to Pachuca Thanks again for the routing info for Veracruz
Let's doo it <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/58292002" width="400" height="300" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe>
Here is a GoPro video made in Taxco This probably sets the bar a bit high for the casual Mexico video maker Great vid to watch with Sunday morning coffee...... "Go Full Screen" <IFRAME height=315 src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/1qibdNgWU_M" frameBorder=0 width=560 allowfullscreen></IFRAME>
As El Barto would say: Hay caramba. That Mexico is definitely not safe. I will run that on my big screen and watch along with a barf bag.
My son just stood here and watched the whole thing. His direct quote: "Only in Mexico would you see something like that - they would never allow that in a US city" He loved it as he's into parkour. We talked about how it's "bicycle parkour in Mexico" I'd love to see that video in Hi Def in an IMax theater
I'm going to Taxco today. I'll try to recreate it.. What you don't see in that video is the guy getting off his bike, turning around and yelling "ok, which of you bastards pushed me?"
