    The SCUM!!!!

After the Spurs give them the thrashing they deserved by their poor play, they take the moral High-ground and thereby rob Spurs of the glory!!!

    Cheeky littler buggers!!!!:lol3

Good on 'em. If only the Phila. Eagles had done that a time or three.....

You must have hated the game in the seventies, then. Al those terrible fouls.

    Somehow society survived. :lol3

    Different rules.
    Harder game.
    No microscopic media attention.
Not withstanding that, I don't recall some much outright cheating (diving in particular).

Maybe not as much diving, but the blood, broken bones, and punches were definately there.

I miss (in a way) that type of play. Tough men, playing hard. That was football.

I enjoy the modern game, but the amount of diving, and the blatant diving is ruining the game.

Nani and Rinaldo are two of the worst. Not the only ones, but......

Of course, I may have sigaled them out due to the fact that they play or played for Man-Freaking-How-I-Hate-Them-United......

Reminds me of the old joke about the three swear words in English Football Team names:

    Arsenal

    Scunthorpe

    ...and...

    ...wait for it...

    Manchester Fucking United!:lol3

Oscar, you have a very warped attitude about what is good and bad in the game of football. And life.

You piss and moan because Henry said calling fouls is up to the ref. What a shocking thing for that "scum" to say! :scratch

Yet you're mum on the real issue: dirty play that injures players, sometimes sending them out of the game. Not a whisper about the flying kick that cracked Drogba's ribs two weeks ago.

What an odd set of values you embrace.

What an odd form of logic you embrace - because I haven't ever mentioned the greater issue of cheating in Football, I'm not allowed to comment on a specific issue. Why do you constantly harp on about what other players are doing? My comment was about Henry cheating, not anyone else. If you'd like to discuss the other incidents, fine - but just because I haven't said anything about Drogba or Givens doesn't give you the right to assume that I condone what they did.

It also strange that you ignored my post about Schumacher half killing the French player.

My values aren't odd a all - I despise cheats.
Not players who play hard and occasionally foul as a result.
Players who deliberately cheat (like handling the ball twice in the area).

I did respond to your Schumacher post. Red mist obscuring your vision?

Oscar, for years now I've enjoyed reading your posts. You're an intelligent man and you don't take any sassing.

Which makes your irrational response to Henry's foul so perplexing. He committed a handball foul. No-one was hurt. Big game, but ultimately small potatoes.

    Your response is, frankly, bizarre.

As you well know Sid, I have. It's only you that seems to have an issue with Oscar over this....

Then you need to go back and reread it.

BTW, I'm surprised you think Henry is "scum."

Lots worse things in the world than a handball. A sense of perspective is in order.

I stand by what I said. Is he the only one that deserves that description ? Of course not.

As I've said, I just find it sad that things such as this are becoming more and more accepted.

What's different now compared to before? :scratch

"Chopper" Harris didn't earn his nickname by playing clean football.

Nothing's changed Sid - Chopper Harris was also a cheating fuck but his days of playing in the World Cup are over and Henry cheated last week hence we're talking about him and not Chopper.

Then why did you use the words "more and more accepted"?

That's what I responded to. :dunno

Just finished watching Chelsea's Champions League match away to Porto.

You know, Chelsea really are rounding into form. Porto are a good team. And yet Chelsea controlled vast portions of the game, mostly in a negative way, denying Porto possession without making a genuine effort to attack.

But the important bit is that they were able to do this (even without Lampard.) And after their second half substitutions, when they decided they wanted a goal, they got one in fairly short order. A simple affair, Zhirkov released Malouda down the left side of the box, a perfect cross to the six yard box and Anelka steaming down the middle beat everyone, nodded in a simple header. Very clean.

Also clean was the goals against column in the ledger.

Not an exciting game. But impressive because Chelsea were able to throttle Porto for long stretches and never conceded.

I'm starting to believe. Oh dear, next comes heartbreak. :uhoh

    I love the game.
    I played the game.
    I Ref the game.
I coached my kids and their mates.
I still play the game, and when I see what Henry did and then excuse himself in that way, I think he's scum.

Just my opinion, and I'm not sure about your country, but where I live you're still entitled to have opinions.

    *sigh*

I'll leave you with this thought, Oscar.

When men of your social status, your intelligence and your level of common sense become so irrationally passionate about a game... then in a very direct way you validate Millwall fans and others who behave as they do.

What will be flung from the stands at Henry next time he plays in England? And will he be injured?
