My plans are still evolving since my visit to my sister's place on Thursday has been put on hold. I may still depart here on Thurs and stop overnight somewhere, or there's a slight chance I may make it to join Boojum and Cigars & Scotch on Thursday evening. :1drink

Docwells, I'll keep you posted via PM.

Just a heads up and an offer...

As I am a "local" to the area (about 20 miles as the crow flies, 50 if you ride) I can offer a lift, tools, and may even be able to rescue anyone that has an "issue".

Here is to hoping it is not necessary!

See you Friday! I will be there Friday night and Saturday until mid-day... then VACATION!

I'll be leaving Friday Morning, not sure of the route to the Smokies, but I read on a post that 32 is a nice gravel road. It's South off 321 near Crosby. Nice and twisty!! I'll be on the G/S, don't feel like taking the DRZ that far this time. Plus don't plan on a rough riding over the weekend.

I am out of here on Wednesday and taking a slow 2 day ride down. Should be there on Thursday mid afternoon.

What is the beer situation??? Do I need to p/u some on the way in? Any suggestions in Ashville??

    Please, only professionals answer

IIRC, Rte 32 does not turn into gravel when coming from Cosby until you veer away from the park boundary, but it is crooked (very similar to Deals Gap w/o traffic). You can then pick up I-40 after just a short run on gravel. It's been at least 5 years since I ran it and was double on the GT the last time. I think you can still get a lot of gravel if you opt not to get on I-40.
I would like to find a place called Buzzard's Roost where you look down on I-40.

That's the way it was last fall. In fact, it looked like new pavement. Can you get to Buzzard's Roost on the strom?

Can an old man with a bad knee make it on a GS? I think I've seen one creek crossing that looks a little tough for a GS. I'll try to find it Thursday on the way down or Sunday on the way back home.
