I beg to differ. When maintenance needs to be done, this bike is easier to work on than many fully faired bikes. One can change the spark plugs and inspect the valve clearance by removing only two screws and the small covers around the heads, not the entire fairing. Oil changes do require removal of the lower unpainted fairing, though. Adding oil (something I never did between changes for 140,000 miles) couldn't be easier.

Wheels come off relatively easily for tire changes and Honda provided a drain for the final drive from the get-go (can you hear me BMW???). Brake pads are easy enough to change.

Even the required timing belt change at 90,000 wasn't too bad. Fortunately, it just doesn't need much work. :D

My 2004 50K miles - somewhere in NM after the LOE heading home, clipped a deer and had to stop to get it back together. Most of my bike pictures are 'polaroids' ;-)

I totally agree. It doesn't need much work, but when it does it's no big deal.
I did the steering head bearings on mine (at 49,000 miles), not too bad.
FWI, you can change the oil filter without removing the lower fairing, just loosen the left side and flex it out.

And the VFR that it replaced...Loved the VFR. The ST is just more comfortable for me now.

I've thought about the ST1300 from time to time. I keep hearing stories about high speed instability but its unclear to me if this is really a significant issue, a problem with bike setup or what. Could any of you owners comment on your experiences with it?

I had a '93 ST1100 ABS. Excellent bike, loved riding it. Like a dumbass I sold it when I thought I needed the bucks. They are few and far between here but I would love to get another.

    Damn,

I wish I could figure out how to post pics:huh

I love my 02 ST with 36000 miles on it. Absolutely, positively a wonderful bike. I will keep it until either it, or I is worn out (it will probably outlast me) Besides, I can't afford a new one!:lol3
