Richard, Have you finished the water seal yet? Just curious. The only tricky part that I can forsee is at the leading seal edge since you don't have the nice big lip there to deflect the water, since it needs to clear when pivoted. I love your work. Great job.
Nicely done... I think I'll give this a try myself, but I think I'll insulate to make a cooler out of it. Thanks for sharing....
Thanks. What I thought I'd do is cover the top of the box with plastic wrap and apply a thick bead of sealer on top of that around the edge and then close the lid. Once it dries it will stay on the lid and provide a seal. I'm not real concerned with it being waterproof since I can easily put valuables in a plastic bag if I get caught in a monsoon. The lid was real easy to make an the idea that DSM8 had is still on the burner.
Do it ! I did have an early thought of removing the rack and extending it over the tail section with a rack option on the lid. :eek1
VERY nice! What a cool project. I am too chicken to ever try something like that. Looks great, lots of functionality, cheap, and the satisfaction of making it yourself - CONGRATS! Love the blue wheels also. Well done!
I really like the work you've accomplished! Very well done . . . . . Rather than paint, perhaps cover it with the hyde of Naughas . . . . .
Thanks, how about a small square pattern like the seat? I appreciate everyones comments, I very happy with the way it turned out. I found some foam padding that I lined the inside with, about an 1/2 thick so my camera and tablet will ride comfortably.
Just realized my photos have disappeared so here's the album. Use your imagination. http://s779.photobucket.com/user/richarddacat/slideshow/My FJR/SMUGGLER - FJR
Bumping this for an update and because it's been so damn handy having it. No wear to amount to anything except between it and the rack. Some of the paint has wore off the smuggler over time so I could have allowed more clearance. The top is still hinged well but shows a few scuffs from my boots. With so many bikes out there with two piece seats this would make a good project for any solo rider. [emoji1]
Thanks, yes it was. May make some side covers for my K75 low seat next. That looks pretty simple in comparison.
Sorry, photos have expired, heres a few. If you have interest pm me. http://s779.photobucket.com/user/richarddacat/library/My FJR/SMUGGLER - FJR
