This will be a big success for Triumph. They know they can't out-sell BMW, but they can sell-out of the Tiger 1200.

27% of all new bike sales in the UK during March were Explorers (or so ive been told)

Whats the best way to remove those stickers from the tank without leaving residue

Wondering the same, but I've always had good luck with a heat gun. Just don't get it hot enough to burn the paint or burn up the decal.

Really? Are you sure that is not for Triumph's only?

Warm them with a hair dryer ... slowly. Let them get quite warm. Then carefully peel off. Something like GOO GONE can help with sticky residue ... or WD40. Clean residue while still warm.

According to Dublin Triumph last Saturday.......the Explorer, some percentage for sure, thanks for the hints regarding the sticker, will remove them tomorrow

You're the first to suggest the Explorer's motor features a cassette gearbox, with all the well deserved horn blowing Triumph's been up to in it's press releases, I think they would have mentioned a "detail" such as this...

When I picked mine up today the service tech came out JUST to tell me about the cassette gearbox. His words were "pull these bolts & you can have the complete tranny out in 10 minutes". So maybe its so? Does seem funny on a non-sport bike.

WD-40 or Goo Gone work great for removing stickers...

1st to post a parts diagram wins a prize, but if Triumph dealer techs are touting a cassette gearbox, they should know. That'll sell even more Explorers to motorheads, nice feature if that's the case.

Might even make some production economy sense too, if they have plans to put that motor in a chain-drive bike as well (Speed Triple 1200, for instance).

Wow! That is too cool! Means if someone was doing lots of off road or a RTW trip, they may be able to swap in a gear box with lower gearing ratios. I wonder if Triumph or the aftermarket might address this possibility some time in the future??

If you follow BMW GS forums ... one of the long running and consistent complaints (they have A LOT) is the idea that gearing cannot be changed without a big expense. Almost no one ever does it. (a custom rear drive and trans would have to be built). Many of those guys have wanted low range gear box and can't get it. Handling a big, heavy bike off road is much easier with very low gears ... especially 1st and 2nd ... with a nice tall 6th.

Confirmation of a cassette gearbox would be interesting, and perhaps lend credence to an upcoming ADV Tigger, but I've not read a single thing about it in the press so far.

This doesn't prove much however, except that I devour most of the mags available in the UK..

I had an exchange with some folks at Triumph and they said an Adventure model ain't happening.

Cassette gearbox means that Triumph can use the motor in various mounts. I'm guessing that like the VFR12 unit - the motor can be easily adopted for chain drive.
