I look forward to reading eventual other riders opinions, but that seemed very honest and unbiased. Thanks.

I've owned a Buell Uly, put 40,000 miles on it all over the west. Took it places it didn't belong. That thing was terrible to ride under 3,000 rpm, but faster than that and it did feel lighter than it was. I've ridden most of the bikes on your list there and I find a bike that has an engine that rotates in the direction of travel is easier to ride and "feels" lighter than it really is. They may shake and what not, but they "feel" lighter than a boxer. Ducati, Buell, Strom, big KTM's...they all feel lighter than they are.

My carb'd 1150GS is lighter than your Sportster, but I guarantee that my bike "rides" heavier.

Jim, I hope that are really not going to go trail riding with that beautiful tank!
Several centuries ago, I had a brand new Yamaha TT500 with just such a beautiful aluminium tank.
Dented it with my knee on the first ride. Don't know what caused me the greatest agony: the sore knee or the sight of my beautiful tank - with a dent....

I remember the TT500 - a great bike. I have mixed feelings on riding mine offroad, but after I photo document it in its current condition, im going to ride it offroad and I know eventually it will go down. Its a dual sport and I made it to ride it like that, so I'll hope for the best - but expect the worst. I don't look forward to posting "those" pictures some day :muutt

As far as the tank ever getting dented....us Studebaker guys say "if someone built it once, we can build it again" It is only metal right?

    Hey Jim,

It was a pleasure meeting you yesterday in Davenport and seeing the SC3 in person. I'm not usually a fan of custom bikes - maybe because you don't see many of the off-road variety - but yours blew me away. Design, materials, colors, everything was perfect. Truly a stunning machine. Well Done!!!!!

I like how you call that getting dirty:lol3 How you Cali boys keep your bikes so clean is beyond me. If that bike spent an afternoon in West Virginia it would be covered in coal dust in every nook and cranny that never seems to come off...:puke1

    Lookin' good as always

I mentioned before that I was having studio photos taken of the bike to document the "new" condition before I began riding it. Here is one of the pictures from that. The photographer is Neil Hanshaw and he does some amazing work. We'll start posting the rest on our website soon.

Jimmy, I had a question, I hope I did not just miss it while reading through this thread, but as far as I know Harleys all use 1" handlebars. Did you use some kind of 1" bars or how did you mount the 1" diameter controls/throttle/clutch/MC onto 7/8" bars?

I'm sure he mentioned he used spacers.

Edit: My bad. Should have remembered that as I run the Bitwells as well....Doh!
